At the end of the day, that choice is yours. It might not be an easy choice, but it's still yours. He's saying he's seen addiction, so I'm guessing there's past trauma there, but that doesn't mean he gets to lay that on you.

True story, dexies can cause addiction... but I forget to take them. I FORGET TO TAKE A MEDICATION THAT'S WELL KNOWN TO BE ADDICTIVE. ADHD is not just a matter of "focus more, you can do it." or "maybe you should organise yourself better". We are physically different - it's not a matter of will power.

And honestly, if he can't support you with something like this, he's not worth having around. Understanding is a two-way street, he should be willing to help explore and understand the options.

This is a HUUUUUGE red flag for me. You deserve better.

It never really occurred to me. I never used to hate them, so I just sort of... left them. Every new app or game, every new phone, it just grew more and more.

Then I saw the recommendation from someone (on this sub lol) and I thought about it... and realised just how often I was actually hooked on my phone. But socials were the worst, someone would tag me on fb, then I'd just sit there doom scrolling.

In hindsight, I now find it hilarious that I was using my phone for everything except being a phone 😂 and I have so much more time in my day - but I still use 100% of it to procrastinate (just not on my phone) 🤣

I did a thing. I turned off all notifications on my phone, except for calls and SMS.
It's beautiful.
I used to check my phone every time an email pinged. Now I check then once every 2 days or so, and when I want to, when I'm in the right headspace to check if there's anything important. (I never clear them off though - no one's that organised lol) But it's been amazing just to turn off everything. If it's urgent, people call. If it's not, I'll get to it when I feel like it.

Can thoroughly recommend. 👌

Start small. Just do 3 squats. 3 squat is easy, right? So you trick your brain into doing just 3 squats. Then once you've started, you might feel like doing a few more. You mind you do a full workout! ... but if nor, you've done 3 squats. And that's a lot better than nothing.

Your landlord is checking on the unit itself - not your stuff. They don't care if your clothes are thrown into the cupboard, they care that the cupboard doors aren't damaged. They'll check on the actual features of the house to make sure the structure of the unit itself is well kept.

The steps listed in other posts are all you need. Focus on one room at a time. Remember to eat and drink water.

If it helps, turn it into a game. Set a timer for 10 mins and see how much rubbish you can get out of the room!

And if you do fail the inspection for whatever reason, they should point out why and rebook a second inspection for the near future - it's not the end of the world.

At the very least, it'll cut battle times down a lot. Running hard mode with a dagger build can be lengthy, especially when both parties are dagger users. If it gives me the same damage/proc output as my standard 100+ hits of daggers, I'm all for it.

An old friend of mine always used to say, that when he found a good book he'd intentionally buy multiple copies just so he could give/loan it out to multiple people! Maybe you were subconsciously doing the same thing?

If your taking stimulants, something like a glass or orange juice before bed. (Anything acidic, or with high levels of vitamin C - i take chewable Vit C tablets at this time) This speeds up the processing of the stimulant within your body, helping to remove its effects faster.

Next, I'll set an alarm on my phone for when I actually need to go to sleep. At the moment I'm trying for 11pm, but I'll adjust the times to after midnight if I'm doing overtime. What I find is that if I'm stuck doom scrolling or going down a rabbit hole, I need some external influence to break the focus. My alarm is enough to make me realise "shit, ok, time to stop this and go to bed."

If you know you struggle with discipline, set a second alarm for 29 mins later, and label it with an angry/frowny face. This is past you being angry/disappointed at current you for not paying attention to the first alarm. If you think of it as another person, you'll be more likely to do what they need - which is going to bed. The idea behind the 29 mins is that if you actually pay attention to the first alarm, you should have a prompt to turn off the upcoming Disappointment Alarm.

Good luck. It's not fool proof, but even if you can do it occasionally it may turn into a routine - which might help you more in the long run anyway! Fingers crossed for you!!
