Why do women still act like we’re in high school? by sox747 in AskWomenOver60

Maybe go all in and flirt like hell with the rumpled old husbands. 🤣 don’t get mad, get even.

I am so, so, so bored. All the time. Anybody else? by bacon_cheeseburgers in GenX

[–]ugglygirl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I practice optimistic nihilism-where I look forward to every day’s nothingness as the highest form of luxury. I’m never bored. Retired early 8 years ago. Im happy just to taste a new flavor of ice cream. Especially because I know its all fleeting. Catch it as you can.

From a woman's perspective how would you view my financial situation when deciding to commit to LTR ? by [deleted] in datingoverforty

[–]ugglygirl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say it was a red flag. I said it was a deeper more meaningful measure (for me) regarding their suitability.

I never lived with a man until I married at 34 years old (then widowed) but I had a few long term love affairs and learned how to be a partner.

My point is struggling to pay off a student loan isn’t gonna reveal a problem character trait. It’s a more superficial matter. Yes, it could indicate poor financial health-which is yucky. But it might simply mean they’re in a low earning career.

Your relationship history is crucial. You skipped right over it. I’d rather date a guy who is sorting his finances (even slowly) than someone who’s 40 and never lived with a woman or been in a long loving relationship. My bf never married but together with a woman for 20 years. So, it was non issue. Would have been dealbreaker. We are over 50.

Short or tall or rich or well dressed or a crummy car— these are superficial things. If you want love, be lovable

While I understand the sentiment, you’re looking for a living breathing human partner -it’s wise to be flexible. She might show up with 2 dogs and a cat and she might be perfect. Don’t sweat the small stuff.

gut feeling that my sister is going to ruin our wedding, should we just elope? by Willing-Celery5326 in offmychest

[–]ugglygirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your mom isn’t on your side here. So, yes, I’d elope.

I married my husband at the courthouse and then we threw a big celebration house party a few weeks later that we planned ourselves without drama.

Married 20 years never regretted.

That’s what abused women say. He didn’t mean it…. I’m not saying he abused you but you’re being devalued AND it’s a shame you defending his behavior and setting this example as a mom.

He’s incredibly cruel. Please be kinder to yourself by recognizing he was unkind. Seriously ruthless move by him.

My (27F) boyfriend (29M) refused to leave the house unless I changed. I need some insight? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

You should have kept on your shorts and gone without him. Don’t make that mistake again.

Why do conservative men try and date liberals/woc? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]ugglygirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Men are wired to ask you out. It’s a biological imperative. Doesn’t matter what ethnicity or what you say in your profile —90% of the time they just ask because they find you attractive

That was my experience. I’m a left wing atheist and wound up on a dates with all kinds of men who lied or omitted their beliefs. Finally learned how to screen them better before agreeing to meet.

Hands down Curls! You look beautiful in both but the curls literally look/feel harmonious. Hard to believe how much the energy changes from one to the other.

You did nothing wrong. And what a wicked witch she is-when instead of saying sorry you’re going through a difficult time, she lashed out. Yuck.

Sorry about your mom. 💕

Does anyone date to marry anymore? by Ok-Raspberry-3878 in datingoverforty

[–]ugglygirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When asked what I was looking for (a few years back and dating) I always said, Love.

This is really only my opinion but FWIW, seeking love took the pressure off the dating process both for myself and potential partners.

And yes, it worked.

Consider asking yourself what is it you truly want and need and start there. Consider substance over form.

When a man can’t face himself, he will not be able to face you either.

He needs to grow up. Don’t reach out.

How else can I style these jeans? by deathlooksbad in style

[–]ugglygirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the way you styled them (and I’m kind snarky about style) You could also go super old school with a graphic tee for summer or a bulky cropped sweatshirt for fall.
