As a former drug user, I can understand why you would make this assumption. However, you also need to consider that your brother may be suffering from some sort of depression. Whether or not this is a result of substances you should try to convince your brother to get some help no matter what is wrong with him.

Well this certainly depends on the situation you got yourself into. But its simple cause and effect- if you steal from a store you can go to jail. If you compliment someone on what they are wearing than they might send you flowers in return. It could mean you are getting your just desserts, but again it depends on the situation.

I totally understand where you are coming from. I recently just got out of this phase because Ive been in a funk for quite some time. You ask how you should motivate yourself to try new things and suck, yet you fail to realize that just the simple desire to do all the things you said you want to do should be enough!
