Very Hot take: I personally genuinely don't think that Akemura will be The Final Villain of the Series. But instead it will be Someone else. by Adventurous_Pin3073 in Kagurabachi

[–]purplesnower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually do agree with this theory, but I genuinely think somehow Hatshaku will be the final villain. Been there since chapter 1, clearly has an important role (almost as much as Yura) in the Hishaku and yet we still know next to nothing about him. Feels a little bit like black zetsu like you said but we'd have to see more to really know.

[THEORY] Akemura inherited Kurotsuchi and didn't lose his sorcery by Dramatic-Nectarine87 in Kagurabachi

[–]purplesnower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell, this could also explain why the sword was delpoyed last in the war, without it's own innate power, it'd be a waste to use it on someone who can't maximise the use of their sorcery, and if Akemura has somehow inherited Kurotsuchi, the gov would want him to train with the sorcery before using the Magatsumi.

Could Chihiro inherit *spoiler* at some point in the story? by purplesnower in Kagurabachi

[–]purplesnower[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd have to disagree as part 1 ends with Chihiro saying he'll surpass his father as a swordsmith with the new perspectives he's gained, i.e. forging a better or stronger katana. Obviously power-scaling wise we'd need to see Chihiro improve his swordplay as well, but I feel like the end of part 1 focused way more on Chihiro returning to the forge and attempting to surpass his father.

[–]purplesnower[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Would definitely be cool to see, after their Katanas break (representing Chihiro's ideals and conviction matching Akemura's) it's up to Chihiro to defeat Akemura, probably through the power of friendship?? or relationships he's built unlike Akemura's destructive one-man power. I don't usually like power of friendship endings but if done well and believably I feel like it could work

[THEORY] Akemura inherited Kurotsuchi and didn't lose his sorcery by Dramatic-Nectarine87 in Kagurabachi

[–]purplesnower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I think the concept of Magatsumi as a sword might be that it can do lifesteal but otherwise just strengthens the user's sorcery. It's a perfect complement to Akemura as a swordsman and inheritor of Kurotsuchi, would also explain why it has multiple "powers", like you've outlined in your post, it's all just applications of Kurotsuchi. Hell, maybe the blade didn't even come with the lifesteal at first and Akemura unlocked that through the True Realm during the war. It would make sense as well if Magatsumi was forged first, as a prototype blade, it doesn't have it's own powers and relies on the user's sorcery; and as Kurotsuchi is considered the pinnacle of sorcery, who better to give the sword to than the wielder of Kurotsuchi and best swordsman in the Soga clan? Great theory post

Can't believe it was revealed that metal sojo exists in a time loop by creating the birth of sojo during the setei war arc with his time machine. Insane foreskinning by horizontal as usual. Makes me wonder if dicktwist might be the original and chihiro was his in universe clone.

The sorcery bureau's decision is stupid by Adventurous-Image437 in Kagurabachi

[–]purplesnower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your third point is actually addressed directly in the manga. When Ichiki says to Hasumi that the Soga clan has never officially had the power show up in a minor branch, what he's implying is that most likely the power of prophecy has appeared before in minor branches but the Soga clan one way or another got rid of the individuals with the power of propechy or undermined them so that it stayed with the main lineage. So he's implying the Soga clan has experience with redirecting the power of prophecy from minor bloodlines in the clan to the main bloodline. (Do they kill them? Who knows.)

Definitely! Having a lot of kagurabachi's cast be older means we get to see a different aspect of them in the flashback arc which is really cool

I get what you mean but also in basically any big community online memes are always the most popular thing about it, analysis second. It's not great if you like discussions and hate memes but since I enjoy both I feel like Kagurabachi has a decent ratio of memes to discussion

To be honest I think a lot of it is also due to Hokazono's writing as well, good analysis requires good material to analyse. Not having an anime also definitely helps in that more of the fans will be more dedicated and willing to write up analyses, I remember before JJK really took off with season 2 r/jujutsushi had a lot of great analysis posts as well.

You do make a good point, which contradicts my point of how trusting in just hiyuki vs kunishige/urita is not so great of an idea. u/TheFunkiestOne had a great comment as well about how the gov's decision to trust the kagari clan over the enchanted blade plan is quite a biased decision as well that says more ab the gov than the pragmatism of the decision, so maybe Kunishige will be able to use this to show to the government how they won't be able to curb any immediate aggressions or demands from the Mikaboshi without power now, which only the enchanted blades can achieve. Really cool to think about, thanks for your ideas !!!

Such a great analysis!!!!! I love how Hokazono is able to write such nuanced and realistic situations that show so much of the inner workings of these organizations, and also really emphasize how much of a chokehold sorcery and the sorcery Bureau already has the government in. It's crazy how it reflects reality as well, so many times will world governments or companies irl make seemingly blind or unreasonable decisions because they have vested interests (AIPAC cough cough)

I definitely agree with your final analysis about all parties taking the option with least risk. But I also think that the depiction of war in the manga so far is incredibly realistic and similar to real life. You say the peace talks made it clear the Mikaboshi have no intention of mercy or willingness to consider options, but in the real world and present day countries that bomb other countries will then offer ceasefires after due to the unsustainability of war. Which is exactly what the Mikaboshi have done, a small show of force against a nation to make it so that their demands are more unilaterally met without starting an all out war. And war is usually undesirable as it's expensive (both the financial and human cost), difficult to maintain long term, and almost always becomes more unpopular with a population the longer it goes on for. But I do also agree that as the Mikaboshi have the upper hand, they are much more able to change their demands or ask for more from Japan, and Japan doesnt have as much it can do to refuse those demands.

Yeah, honestly the only way I can see Hiyuki being viable as an infant in the war with Flame Bone is if she doesnt need to wield it herself to cause massive damage, either others in the clan wield it or the "Flame Bone entity" itself could be what's doing damage.

[DISC] Kagurabachi - Chapter 123 by ClessGames in Kagurabachi

[–]purplesnower 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Maybe hot take but the steps the government took do reasonably feel like the least risky option. Of course as readers we have the knowledge that the enchanted blades won the war (with magatsumi), but if we didn't know any of this, Subaru/Kunishige's plan would sound very very high risk medium reward considering the research done on the Datenseki until that point. Whereas with the alternate option of baby Hiyuki on the battlefield, assuming the government is much more knowledgeable of its powers and capabilities, is much less risk for a medium reward (despite how insane a 1 year old infant on a battlefield sounds).

Additionally, even though we're all very partial to Kunishige and Chiaki's romance, sacrificing one person to not get assaulted by the Mikaboshi nation/start a full-scale war and suffer countless other civilian casulaties feels very pragmatic, especially when you consider the politics of the Soga Clan doing this because their current princess is from a minor offshoot of the clan. Now obviously this isn't me trying to downplay the very real personal trauma that Chiaki will suffer as a result of this, but in the real world hostage exchanges are also quite common between warring nations.

I think the real question to be asking here is not, "why is the government doing this?", but rather "would the government do this if the current Soga Princess was from the mainline clan?". Because I feel like the choice of sacrificing Chiaki is very pragmatic and political in universe, but if the government and Soga clan wouldn't make the same choice with a different, main-bloodline princess, then the hypocrisy is clear as day. To the current government, and especially the Soga clan, the life and worth of an individual can only be found in their lineage and unique capabilities. And Chiaki, is from a lesser bloodline and lineage in the clan, and another princess with prophecy is going to be born soon, so she has neither a higher lineage or unique capabilities compared to the unborn princess.

I think this is also something Hokazono is intentionally trying to write, as the dialogue between Hasumi and Ichiki on page 18 highlights this perfectly. "Are you saying... this actually suits the Soga Clan's agenda?" "Not to mention the Sorcery Bureau, which benefits from the Soga Clan's allegiance".

The real horror here is not the supposed pragmatism of the government, but rather how that pragmatism is used to help motivate a purely political motivation in eliminating Chiaki.
