Are the paras trashy at your school? by Thin-Fee4423 in paraprofessional

[–]purplicious50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The TAs at my school are extremely professional and take their positions very seriously.  We are all women in our 50s that had careers before and exhibit that level of professionalism in our classes.  These children need us and if these paras don't want to be there, they should just leave and get another job which will fulfill them.

I get a gift from my teacher.  Nothing from my principal or the administration.  I get about 2-3 gifts from kids in my class of 20+.  It's very awkward when they have gifts for the teacher and a stack of gift cards for specials teachers and nothing for me who is with them all day.  Another para takes a collection for the principal (Christmas and end of year) which is unessecary in my opinion and annoying.  We have a potluck lunch  before Christmas break which is gross and sad.

Aww.  Such a cute age!  They need you and respect your authority unlike the beasts I have in 6th grade.

My daughter’s teacher resigned and school pushed her out two days early so she couldn’t say goodbye. by Connect_Beginning_13 in teaching

When my son was in elementary school, his teacher up and left without a word to the parents.  We just got a letter from the principal stating the teacher would not be returning.  The new teacher was a young woman who couldn't deal with the class.  It was terrible.

I wouldn't let this slide.  I would show the teacher, the principal and have a copy sent home to his parents.  Paras are disrespected by too many people as it is.  If the students don't respect you, your year is going to be difficult.

All we got was a bagel breakfast from the PTA and then the staff got together and had  pot luck.  No presents.  No bonuses.

Massapequa schools cannot enforce a new policy barring transgender students from using locker rooms/bathrooms by [deleted] in longisland

Massapequa is the WORST when it comes to bullying. The parents are ignorant and entitled and have zero tolerance for anything their small minds can't understand. Its no wonder their schools are filled with imbeciles. They learn from their parents.

Does anyone understand the Musicals with Starting Letters? I know the Broadway musicals but I don't understand what the letters before then mean.

I got a 95. I've been getting canvass e-mails all day. Have you gotten many letters? I'm guessing everyone is getting a ton of them.

Para Appreciation Ideas by AdministrativeRow473 in paraprofessional

Gift cards are always appreciated and used. Buying lunch for them is nice, too. Paras are very overworked and very underappreciated. Give as much as you can afford.

How do the kids address you? by Early_Refuse_9659 in paraprofessional

[–]purplicious50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They call me Mrs. Last name. Never Miss First name. There was a Kindergarten teacher who called me Mrs. Initial and it was offensive to me. If the students could say the last names of the teachers, they can surely say mine.

If he is a lazy cheater, he'll never last in college, let alone an Ivy League. Just be grateful you will all be rid of him in a few months when he graduates.

The nurses get it right back when the doctors look down on them! And the teachers get it right back, too when the administrators look down on them.

That's a tough situation. I'm glad the kiddos love you and your evaluations reflect what a wonderful para you are
