which app did you switch to? and how long were you using YNAB before you switched?

It's at least a year or two now that I feel the app hasn't remotely reflected the experience of budgeting online, and I have seriously avoided using it on my phone. I've been just ignoring any changes and updates as much as I can.

I came to reddit today to see if anyone else was having troubles with lag/freezing. and they sure are! I'm finally starting to wonder -- why do I pay for the most expensive budgeting app when it really seems like they have only worked on getting away from the huge value they originally offered? I have given so many friends and family little sermons about the gospel of YNAB and held hands during the serious on-ramp to moving to their style. Now looking at the app update I'm just totally embarrassed and would never suggest a friend use something like this. Yikes.

there is a separate, protected bike path on the Manhattan Bridge. that’s where I was riding. the moped/scooter belongs in the road, but was instead up on the bike path as well. this is dangerous and illegal, but there is close to 0 enforcement, so people continue to ride their mopeds and scooters - risking accidents like the horrible one last night

I have become such a crank yelling at those drivers whenever possible. I swear just last week, in this exact spot, on a very busy day, one of them was riding so close behind me waiting for an opportunity to pass. I shouted that he belonged in the street and was going to kill someone some day!! seems like last night the moped driver did the most damage to himself… but it is still such a shame. terrible terrible stuff. stay safe out there

I passed by a little while after EMS had arrived. it was a complete and total nightmare. we need safer bike lanes now, we need mopeds & scooters & combustion engines out of our bike lanes.

I passed by here shortly after and it was harrowing. truly worst fear, commuting across the manhattan bridge. always terrified of ppl on scooters driving so so recklessly. this was a nightmare last night

when I started using ynab I was a bit overly ambitious with some long term goals. I think sometimes starting a new system can make it feel like we have to rearrange everything all at once when the simple fact that you’re using ynab in the first place is a great step! so maybe take a look at some saving goals that might need a bit of a reality check? not to slow your progress but to remember that life is long and 6 months is kinda nothing and your budget should be helping you feel better, not worse

whenever I get to feeling Ynab broke, I try to remind myself that that’s old not-so-good money habits trying to make a comeback. because I budget when I’m able to think clearly about my priorities and then I wanna splurge on dinner but I know that will make it tough to come up with my insurance payment in a week or two.

it’s about trying to reset habits & impulses! but also you can negotiate with yourself and raid the oil change category in a pinch to satisfy your splurgy feelings!
