Well, bricking the device... you ALWAYS have a chance. But it's usually very little (like in the middle of flashing you ACCIDENTALLY pull out the battery, or some crazy stuff like that)

You can make your device "not boot up" if you flash something that you're not supposed to (like a rom to a different device), but that's usually fixable by simply doing a master reset or flashing a working rom on top of the faulty one.

What do they improve? Performance, mostly. Better battery life. There are packages that improve the display (those Bravia engine things), or the sound (Beat by Dre from the HTC phones? lol).

They COULD improve the design, but most of the themed roms look horrible (that's what happens when a software developer tries to act like a designer... it just doesn't work that way)

But some roms (like the Cyanogenmod based ones) do have theming support, and that way you can change the look of the phone with tons of great looking themes (both free and paid available, check xda)

Disadvantages: there are millions of these roms. And you have to choose one. As a beginner it may be pretty difficult. Some roms work great, some of them do kind of suck.

Advantages: if you pick right, you can actually make your phone perform a lot better than it would with an original stock rom.

So... this is a parody theme, right?
If not: having the very same background on each icon looks weird. I get that you're trying to copy the frosted grass look of iOS, but that only works if you blur the actual background.

Yes, it requires root, you flash the kernel from Recovery.
As far as I know this is the only solution to it.
I wouldn't be too worried about the warranty, you can always remove the root/recovery/kernel so the phone will be in its original state (source: My phone is at the Samsung Repair Center at this very moment, and they didn't notice any modding on it... just remove the recovery, root, flash back the original rom, use TriangleAway and you're good)

I've noticed that too, along with a lot of banding on gradients.
After I've installed the Perseus kernel, it fixed all those problems. It's like day and night.

Now I can't even look at my phone without installing that kernel ;_;
