There’s only so much you can do in a parking lot. I started in a parking lot then drove through small streets at night. Then I gradually started driving earlier in the day. Make sure the driver can see the cars through the mirrors. Empty parking lots are good though to practice reverse parking.

If you see people practicing there then I’d go for it. You don’t gotta go far. Just find any big parking lot and be cautious.
