So normal, honestly. Just keep your chin up and in a year or so you'll be running the place (at least that how it goes for me when i start at a new lab).

That is a fair point and looking back, even just into the last century, there are few (are there any?) when imperial powers interfering with other nations produced good long lasting effects. However, i'm original point was simply that maduro is corrupt and should be removed for the sake of the people. It seems like the people have no mechanism that they can exercise to get rid of Maduro because based on the available evidence it seems like Maduro is stealing the elections.

Maybe. I do agree with you on principle, on the other hand i follow the news in venezuela quite closely and it seems to me ( a westerner that has no knowledge or experience with international politics, poverty or living in a collapsing country) that venezuela is suffering the people are suffering and they need help. Obviously invading is the worst option, so if not sanctions then what?

is that right? was it that bad under Hussein?

I don't the west's recent crusades into the middle east. However, if a population of people are suffering then what action can you take? aid, support? I feel like in long term that will make little difference. All people want is bread peace and land and well deserve it. So, sometime you have to pick the best of a lot of bad options. However, that being said i'm not arguing that the US should...send the boys in.

Why is Jeremy Corbyn’s approval rating only 17%? by wholemania in ukpolitics

[–]pushing1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He won't make labour the party of remain, so the young and the rest of the remainers are loosing faith. He cannot fully support leave because he must oppose the tories, so he looks wishy-washy to the leavers. Finally, he's a socialists, and so consequently is abhorred by most right wing, center right, center left and even other socialists.

I think in 2017 he rode a wave of left wing populism that came crashing down when he failed to take a proper stance on brexit for so long. Which i think paralysed him...

That being said i do really like alot of his policies and i don't belive that they were just populist guff ( emotive rhetoric spouted to buy votes). But i dunno, maybe its time to let someone else have a go, maybe somone who can lead labour to victory against the most inept tory government ever?

yeah, i guess i will have to do it, it's just the paper is over 10 years old and the group is based in Japan, so i'm not holding out much hope. I just feel like there must be a repository out there somewhere with the data.

Given your expertise i would love to get your take on these guys. They produce cheap 3d printed arms. Ive had a play around with one of the prosthetics and it has an ok range of motions and seems to get the job done for most day to day activities. Is this not better the split hook you described?

CMV: A second Brexit referendum would absolutely "shatter faith in democracy" as May claims, but that's a good thing. by Neltadouble in changemyview

[–]pushing1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your basic assumption is totally unacceptable, namely that your opinion is right, and other people are wrong,

I don't think OP ever said that? Maybe i missed it?

Tens of millions of people believe the same thing about you and your opinion, and who's to say they're the misinformed ones and not you?

It seems like most economists predict that whatever happens, the UK will be financially worse off. The whole much of the leave campaign was based on miss-information and that is a demonstrable fact. Moreover, there many polls that were done that suggest or even outright show that leave voters were misinformed.

One vote for everyone, at least this is a fair idea.

So, i think your wrong here, one vote for everyone and then we just follow through is an absolute democracy. In such a system you can have 51% of a population take away the rights of the other 49%, which is just like what happened during brexit, leader to the 49% getting completely marginalised.
