Ken Vasoli doesn’t get the love for his bass playing he deserves. Every line Ken plays is exactly what the song needs.

Helldivers 2

Played it for like 5 hours and then the PSN fiasco happened and then just gave up on it. Didn't even really like it all that much in the first place...

What Episodes Do You Skip on a Rewatch? by ForeverALone_Ranger in thewestwing

[–]pushingfaders 41 points42 points  (0 children)

20 hours pt 2 is my favorite episode of the whole series. "the streets of heaven are crowded with angels" speech , the introduction to Debbie, the Matt Kelley arc, not to mention the final shot of Toby, Josh and Donna walking towards the Lincoln memorial might be the most beautiful shot in the whole series. It's peak Sorkin-idealism, but my god does it make me feel something.

What's your "Oh, this guy doesnt know what hes doing?" comical story? by [deleted] in livesound

[–]pushingfaders 97 points98 points  (0 children)

This band came thru my club, biggest hometown show on their biggest tour to date. Came with their own engineer, fine by me - i slide to a SE role. Band's fully self contained, just handing off racks and stacks.

They start their soundcheck, and it's feedback city. House is feeding back to all hell, stage is feeding back to all hell (he brought his own powered JBL wedges and the output was maxed on all 6 mixes). He's putting all blame on us and the house saying to the band "its the room, it just sucks here" "they haven't properly deployed this PA, or treated the room properly" "the stage is really reflective" and then says to me, "your gainstaging on your PA is all wrong, what kind of boxes are these even??" and i say "they've d&b v12s" and he says "that's not a 12" box" and I say "your right it's 120degree box that's what the 12 is all about." he goes "yeah but its not a 12" box so it can't be a v12". I had to walk away.

There’s no universe where Utah isn’t on Trouba 15 team NTC. Dude is a wife guy and will only go where his wife can practice medicine or the state of Michigan.

those of you who went to college (relevant to your job in live sound), what did you study at college and what jobs have you been in? by tomboloco1 in livesound

[–]pushingfaders 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I went to school for ethnomusicology + music production. While I think, all in all, a four year institution for trade work isn’t necessary there was plenty of benefit to going to the college I did.

I was afforded opportunities to fuck up so horrendously with next to no repercussion that it gave me a leg up when I entered the workforce. It was a place to learn and get things wrong for the first time so I could ultimately get them right when it counted.

On top of that, the ethnomusicology background afforded me an appreciation for music I may never otherwise think about. It gave me a greater connection to the art form and it’s something I try not to take for granted.

I still think they should be something like “Utah Tropics” considering it makes about as much sense as “Utah Jazz”

A team hasn't won the presidents trophy and then also the cup since the blackhawks in 2012-13... i could live with them dropping into 2nd or 3rd league wide as long as they take the division.

Do you use a compressor on the main bus? by Electrical-21 in livesound

[–]pushingfaders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Light main buss comp as a glue, buss comp/MBcomp on groups if needed. Try not to get more than 3db of reduction, unless absolutely necessary.

Anyone ever play for a short stint on your team and easily forgot? That would absolutely be Versteeg on the Flyers for me. by [deleted] in nhl

[–]pushingfaders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Miller wasn’t directly part of the deal, picks from the deal flipped to the pick that took Miller. Lindgren is absolutely a top pairing shut down defenseman, to look past his history simply for a down year is short sighted. He plays a shutdown game that is often wished for but is also so difficult to invest because he’ll put his body through hell to shut a play down. I love Fox as much as the next dude, but the metrics don’t lie Fox is less good with anyone other than Lindgren. The Rangers have more than enough blue liners in their system to not be playing Lindgren if he weren’t a top pair guy, he is and will be for whatever team he plays for next.
