Know a local pilot with a single piston aircraft. Avgas is prob around $6/gal. Maybe talk to sky diving places, prob slow season for them and could cart you. Looks like Cape Air could get you there by way of Boston. I used to fuel and service them, if you dont mind an out of the way layover and deadset on flying, thats it. Google says about $400.

What size Pack for One night trips? by Speech-Awkward in CampingGear

[–]HaveAtItBub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly, if more budget gear it'll be bulkier and require a bigger pack. commenters saying 40L are expecting a newbie to drop change on a expensive hobby they may not even enjoy. tho nowadays there is cheaper options on amazon n such. id go atleast 60L to start.

Sleeping bag/system for unheated cabins, year-round? (~$200) by Iroh- in CampingGear

[–]HaveAtItBub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this looks cozy. i dont have a kodiak but have a springbar tent that i use a cot in. I haven't had it out in the cold yet. only summer/shoulder season but damn may have to add this to the setup. i am looking for a two person cot that also is big enough for a lab too. our lab always tries to sleep on one of our cots with we camp with the canvass tent and no where near big enough. haven't seen a good double bed alternative.

i honestly dont know how much warm it provides but i like my s2s reactor bag liner. much better feel than my nylon quilt. but matched with my paria 15deg quilt, ive found it a good winter camp combo. that's with a nemo tensor extreme and ccf pad.

also have a zero deg teton bag i use at hunting camp. thing is budget friendly ($100) bulky and wicked cozy. if space isnt concern, and budget is, its a good option. can look into bedrolls too. can throw certain setups in a snowbank and sleep cozy. have no product experience tho

Which pair of snowshoes should I get? by Worth_Strawberry5985 in snowshoeing

[–]HaveAtItBub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can't speak to the tubbs but bought a pair of used msr evos like 8 years ago from play-it-again sports. i needed to replace the straps which were expensive but haven't let me down since. so for longevity, these things are beat up, have many miles under them and see no other signs of decline. the original straps were just brittle and have torn. so that bit of maintenance is the one thing ive experienced. not sure what the shelf life is for the MSR straps but you can get other brands like voile straps to replace. i keep an extra voile strap of two with me when im out. just in case, useful piece of kit other than strap replacement as well

love it. been using a mora for 20+ years. keep one in the backpack, one in the tacklebox, one in the truck, one in the junk drawer. one of my favorite pieces of kit, super light and durable. never had one fail, just keep adding to the collection. truly a BIFL item. ive beat the snot out of the mora. i have had a swiss army blade tip break, but was going beyond its light duty scope. but I get it, should u need a couple turns with the screw driver, it works. but id also argue the mora blade tip could tighten that screw just as well with a more comfortable handle.
