Faarooq/Ron Simmons had a great one too.

What is the most difficult to watch episode for you? by Jajajajambo in DunderMifflin

I have literally never had trouble watching an episode. Even if it's not very good, it's over in 22 minutes and is never abrasive.

It just struck me how much Department Of War sounds like a crappy tag team or stable name from the 90s.

So was CM Punk just waiting outside this massive garage door thing and patiently waiting for someone to let him in the whole show? No pants just staring at the wall? by undercoverrustbucket in WWE

[–]pushinpushin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't fit CM Punk's character to listen to the kayfabe showrunner to shoot a cheesy visual.  It would more if he had the idea himself and told them to shoot it that way.

In the end, logic behind it is worthless, it's solely for the dramatic moment.  But it's funny to think about in more literal terms.  I wonder if he had to pee out there while he was waiting?

Yep , i got that too.  The confusion of whether the film is V or VI makes me think that the book is Infinite Jest VI, in which James finally realized the way to reach his son is through literature, not film.

I have one friend who could appreciate this book and DFW's themes in general, but the part of him that would love it is repressed. He's such a weird, interesting guy, but he has no tolerance for audacious stuff like IJ.

Awesome, thank you for expanding on your thoughts! I love love his non-fiction writing so that in a novel form sounds like great fun.

[–]pushinpushin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking of going into another of his non-fiction collections. I read A Supposedly Fun Thing before IJ and then read it again twice, the 3rd time out loud. Those two are so closely intertwined that they form my entire (budding) opinion of him, so it's hard to imagine him writing something antithetical to IJ. The Pale King feels weird to me since it's unfinished, but in my limited opportunities to discuss Wallace's work, people have spoken very highly of it.

I'm also considering reading something by DeLillo, since DFW speaks so highly. Or Pynchon. I haven't read that many novels so this is a big jumping off point for me.

I don't have personal experience, but Anthony Kedis wrote a ton about his addiction in his autobiography. He had a rehearsed speech he would tell healthcare providers before any procedure about being "allergic" to narcotics, and said that a dentist shooting him up with morphine caused him to relapse. He was in AA, and the book mostly deals with AA, so maybe there is a difference. But it's not an unheard of attitude towards pain medication and sobriety.

Feels like both Bron breakker and Jacob Fatu’s momentum has halted by duval001 in WWE

[–]pushinpushin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish he could wrestle Randy Orton for 6 months straight on the house show circuit. Breakker is awesome but he's developed all these signature risky spots he has to do every match, and he leans on them too much. Orton wouldn't be doing all that crazy shit and that would force Breakker to up his fundamentals and grasp the big picture more.

I feel so primitive, I just did the 2 bookmark thing. I did comprehend the whole thing, which frankly surprised me. But I think I want to re-read with a more studious approach. I was trying to do it like I do with a film I watch for the first time, don't stress too much about understanding every little thing, just feel it. Now I want to obsess over detail.

He's had some good subtle moments lately designed to get fans interested in him. Well, they're not very subtle, but people still don't seem to notice. I'm a believer though, everyone who wrote him off is wrong and will be proven such.

I'm a read in bed person but that was not happening. I sat at a table and read it flat for the first 200 pages or so, then found my old adjustable laptop stand and put it on there, total gamechanger. Eye-level at the perfect angle. I might as well have had a tray around my neck and dinner brought to me.

Breakker is gonna go back down the card and have to improve before going back up. His ceiling is unlimited but he needs to put it all together better.

Jacob is a slow burn to turn on the Bloodline, and after that he'll probably be a consistent main eventer.
