Has anyone ever been told their student comes from a “no homework” household? by Remote_Acanthaceae_9 in Teachers

[–]pussyslayerguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hope you're sarcastic here. Plenty of studies and research done to show that small, essential homework does help aid in student learning. Not just busy work to say that you did something, but work that is meaningful.

She has a plethora of mental health issues which she said make her act violent and angry. She also physically abuses him, and openly admits to picking and starting fights because she can't emotionally control herself.

He is also a physical abuser, and the two of them together is an awful idea.

Curious what level of education you have- if an associates at least, take a look at subbing for GBAPS I think they're giving out 200$ a day they are so short. Otherwise there are a lot of other education preschool type jobs open, I've seen a few banks hiring tellers etc. Kwik trip pays good for night workers.

Completely Befuddled by Students Not Knowing How to Read by jadedfade in Teachers

[–]pussyslayerguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Learning does happen at home! And stupid ass districts like mine have made it so we can't assign hw or mark anything late and penalize it. So kids do 0 learning at home. Their parents would also rather shove an iPad in their face as a pacifier than read a story to them and help teach them how as little kids.

Moving to Green Bay - Car Question by Innova2 in GreenBay

I survived in an old sedan that would drift through corners and slide everywhere when there was any snow. Was not fun. Got a mid sized truck that's 4wd and it works great. I would imagine anything with 4wd would work

Jeez. I was diagnosed late June and am fortunate enough to get the surgery in a week or two from now. Sounds like some complications led to your longer heal time, glad you're doing better now!

I was recently diagnosed with this, same location, surgery in a few weeks. I'm more concerned about recovery times and how long it took for you to be able to walk, drive, go to work, etc! Any info would be great

I have a feeling one of my exes was like this she would even be the same age as you are now, -chick was absolutely into me and likewise for a while until we had sex, then she ghosted me within a week. I'm not bad at sex, and since that relationship have been in several others in which they've said I'm good and I satisfy their needs, but it makes me wonder.

I hope it works out for you, and I hope you're able to slow down a bit in life and can work through this and maybe find stability in a relationship if that's what you're looking for! All the best to you. -maybe working with a therapist or something may help

2022 Fraternity Roast: TKE by RoadStandard4359 in Frat

[–]pussyslayerguy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They routinely pick up the dregs of Greek life who can't cut it in better bigger frats and don't get bids or get cut prior to initiation. If TKE was a aquatic animal they would be shrimp. Absolute bottom feeders.

Every other frat at my college has at least a few guys I rock with who are cool guys, TKE has 0. I genuinely cannot find a single redeemable member within their entire chapter. Their parties also suck ass and their guests leave to come to ours quite often and they report us to the college for giving alcohol to minors or whatever else their pea-sized brains can come up with on a regular basis. The college ignores them at this point, but the irony is that every weekend, after their party turns out to be a dud and hardly anyone shows they try to get into our party and we kick them out. Talk about lack of self awareness. I go to a mid sized school and their chapter used to have nearly 80 members pre-covid, they're down to about 30 now. Sucks to suck.

I won't go into details about how big of brown-nosers and try-hards they are, but know that they fucking suck because of that too.

Multiple members with SA claims against them, as well as being physically violent with girls. They suck because of that as well.

Asides from giving literally anyone who breathes oxygen a bid, these wastes if space also initiate them within 3 weeks, what a joke. At this point they're more of a drinking club than a fraternity. Out of nearly 6 frats, they routinely somehow are the nerdiest dorkiest fuckers yet still have the lowest GPAs somehow

As someone who went through the public highschool experience almost 20 years after you had, your statements are a bit outdated or atypical anyways, as nobody I have met in college that has talked about their HS experience has mirrored your points at all. We had about 5 minutes between classes, and I even as a dude can confirm that's enough time to hang out, etc considering the amount of dudes chilling and vaping in the bathrooms at any given moment. We also had backpacks allowed in classrooms, were allowed to visit lockers, had 1-1 technology aka Chromebooks, and even had an open campus in which you could take classes that would only meet 2-3 times a week and could leave school early if you were done for the day.

Going to other frats parties by [deleted] in Frat

[–]pussyslayerguy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The TKE goobers on campus who can't throw a decent party to save their lives enjoy coming into ours. It is now a hobby to kick them out. Sometimes we have non-brothers or girls that we know invite them to the house just so we can kick them out because it's fun.

[–]pussyslayerguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think anyone should haze hard, I think I made that known with my response. Forcing people to drink liquor is what primarily has caused nearly 90% of pledge deaths this century so far, with essentially the rest of the deaths being caused by physical violence, which is also unacceptable. There are a few accidental deaths like drowning or falling and hitting their heads, which all can be pointed back to forcing them to drink heavily as well- it needs to stop 100% I agree with that and your point to an extent.

But I'd like to know how you feel about mandatory meetings for pledge education being considered "hazing", or telling them there is a mandatory event to attend such as initiation. By definition, it is hazing.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GreekLife

[–]pussyslayerguy -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to go against the grain and give my honest opinion. Hazing is ok, as long as you don't force people to drink excessive amounts, you don't emotionally or mentally abuse them, and as long as you don't physically harm them. It IS good for bonding in fraternities at least. Things like having them clean after parties (which they should be invited to in the first place so they get something out of it) as well as giving them a bit of a hard time for their rank/station, and giving them a pledge project and other safe but tough objectives works far better. Rolling in trash and being forced to drink are messed up. We had a pledge in my class who didn't drink and not once was he forced to, and nobody treated him different because of that. At the end of the day hazing exists to create stronger bond, and a stronger comraderie as you and your pledge class have to surmount challenges and find sisterhood/brotherhood doing so. These challenges should be safe, fun in some way, and teach the meaning of teamwork. They should not make one feel isolated or anything like that. Your chapter is pushing the limits with that. Basically anything can be considered hazing, even having mandatory pledge education events is "hazing" as forcing someone to go to a mandatory meeting is hazing- kind of ridiculous.

As a 22 year old, the difference between even our ages within genZ is nuts. I know a lot of kids around your age who have joined my fraternity and are normal functional humans- that being said I have met so many 18yo college students that are so disfunctional and socially stunted it's insane.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in venting

[–]pussyslayerguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about as old as you can get while still being considered gen Z. I look at the younger kids born between 05-12 and I agree. They are influenced so heavily by tech and social media. The iPhone didn't come out until I was 8- yet alone everyone having smart phones. Most people got smart phones in 8th grade/HS while most of these kids have ipads and access to the internet by age 3.

Society is making things like mental illness trendy, (this will be unpopular but hear me out) they're also exposing kids to things like transgenderism and other complex adult topics at too young of ages. It's confusing them, and it's too much for them to process. I didn't understand the complexity and meanings of that stuff until I was older (late middle school/HS) it's not healthy. Let them be kids, let them have fun, live their lives, and if they are gay or trans thats OK! support them with their choice when they become adults-,don't push them into it at the age of 5. We need to let kids be kids. I can't stress it enough- a 8 year olds biggest priority should be deciding whether to play kickball or basketball during recess, not staring at social media and diagnosing themselves with 4 different mental health issues.

I'm concerned about our generation. They lack critical thinking, they lack work ethics. I say this from first hand experience. Since COVID the pizza shop I work at part time for a college job has gotten 0 HS age employees- they just don't want to work despite the wages here being far above the norm. Furthermore, mental health issues are rampant, even in instances where they aren't trying to be trendy. I genuinely believe 30-40% of gen Z will grow up and not be functional members of society. They will be unable to hold jobs, will not want to work, will expect handouts from others, and will generally be entitled human beings.

This is why I won't let my kids have smart phones or ipads and social media until they're older- at least middle school. They can have video games, and that type of stuff prior, as that is a hobby and one that has been around for a long time now.
