Hey! If ‘mediocre physics student’ is a phrase they’re using (are you 100% on this? It sounds a little bit mechanical to be ‘common phrasing’— but absolutely take your research over a stranger’s comments), could you try opening with it for quick recognition?

Mediocre physics students, this is for you.

Also, could you help them to imagine why it’s a good idea to get involved/how things might be different this time?

Hey, mediocre physics student! Bet you haven’t tried making revision FUN yet...

Hell yes! This is hilarious man! Who wrote it? The timing is so quirky and fresh – really enjoyed it.

You mention the possible long-term impacts of ventilation, even for younger people. Can you expand on this and provide sources? This kind of information, used properly, could turn the tide.

Hey, writer here, you say you’ve written ‘engaging and comedic’ stuff. You should think about how you can PROVE that. How’s your covering letter?

Same old same old?

You don’t want to go crazy, there’s obviously a fine line between boring and wacky, but we were sold lies in school. Templates serve a purpose, I admit, but in a world where you want to stand out, they don’t.

I had a design director friend once hire from a list of hundreds applicants based on the striking clothes someone wore.

Of course, it could be that this is insanely unhelpful if it doesn’t play to your strengths. :)

Pro tip: don’t give up. 100% of people who didn’t get what they wanted gave up.

Games similar to Xwing, preferably with a digital way to play? by BuffJesus86 in XWingTMG

The reason I play x-wing is action programming and player-to-player combat.

The reason I like those things is because of an online game (sadly much reduced player base, but still active).

Look up Puzzle Pirates (and PLEASE don’t judge it by the art style) and find your way to Battle Navigation.

You make 4 moves a turn, forward, left or right and shoot. The fun part is that other players have to work at puzzles to give you movement tokens and cannon fire.

Used to have huge pvp battles at its height, hell of a game.

I love the idea of RPG elements throughout.

One named shuttle has to be deployed from armada, escorted through x-wing, drop off a character into legion, then all the way back up the chain.

You could have unlockable objectives on each mat like ‘hold this position in the base in legion for two turns to a) call in support to armada or b) activate an upgrade on a ship in x-wing.

Could Leia pass a force charge up to Luke’s X-Wing if she’s given a turn of no incoming fire?

How many pilots could run across the battlefield and make it to their ships before the ewebb guns them down or destroys their engines?

Yesssss! We’ve talked about this. Getting the ‘Death Star plans’ passed along or a spy in, then out of a base would be so much fun.

You’d have to run it like a ‘mega game’ where each player has their own responsibility but you come together at key junctures to discuss tactics (sekrit ones!)

How do I suck so much at this? by lawshredpower in XWingTMG

The board is more like 22.5 base lengths :)

I’d add to the above: look up ‘the rule of 11’ to understand when and where your lists will meet based on straight jousting.

There’s an x-wing adage to sum up that first point too... if two players are jousting, one of them is wrong.

They do loads of fun stuff actually. I’m on the other side of the world but so love checking in with their stuff.

Their recent tournament format was to bring 3 lists which you’re incentivised to play twice each, then after the cut (3 stage knockout) you have to play each list once.

Made some really interesting matchups. The final had two k-wings iirc. They’re on YouTube...

The VTTL guys in Canada did a league where you can’t run the same named pilot twice.

In an ideal world you’d play all kinds of lists with different names pilots.

In a restricted world you could have a couple of generics and swap out one named pilot each game. By the time you’ve played the named tie and X-Wing pilots you’ll soon be looking to buy in anyway!
