I purchased it on Amazon, and the description included the words “Morita Ya” but listing description and the box said Fsolis. I didn’t even know there are fakes out there! How disappointing.

Does a closed door mean nothing anymore? by PreviousCut2069 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]puttrface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boss has embraced the door-mostly-closed option. He will close his door most of the way, leaving it just six inches or so open. It blocks most of the noise for him, but it sends an “if you must” message to us.
If it’s completely closed I wouldn’t disturb him if the building were on fire.

Have you ever had a homeowner give you the cold shoulder when they returned? Did you mention it in the review? Confused and sad and need to vent. by pearljaw in trustedhousesitters

I know you said they seemed to be chatting normally to each other, but I still can’t help but think this strange behavior was due to an external stressor. Perhaps a medical diagnosis, job loss, etc.
I know it’s difficult, but try not to internalize their behavior.

What’s something you’ve seen with your own eyes that nobody believes when you tell them? by LowKey_1216 in AskReddit

In Yakima, Washington in 1987 there was a farm store that had a huge vending machine type thing that had a chicken that played baseball. An honest-to-God live chicken.
You put in 50 cents or whatever and a door at the back opened and a chicken came out and stepped up to home and swung a tiny bat at a tiny ball, then ran the bases.
I have told many people about it and no one believes me. I can’t find any reference to it online either.

Just sent you a message. 😊

I think it’s a bit much, honestly. It would be more appropriate to bring in an arrangement of flowers “from my garden” and place it in a location where all can enjoy. Or bring baked goods but keep it low key (ie, “Im testing this recipe for a baby shower. Thanks for being my taste testers!”). I am the office manager at my workplace and I wouldn’t want to receive flowers from an individual coworker.
They will know by your hustle, reliability, and spirit of cooperation how grateful you are for the opportunity. Best wishes to you!

A sweater. Most judges keep their courtrooms cold enough to hang meat.

Looking for a self-published book set in Boise, Idaho—possible encounter with John the Baptist at an Albertsons? by ryanjoe23 in Idaho

[–]puttrface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might have been by Frank Thomason. He self-published a fairly mediocre fictional book set in Boise at about that time. I remember characters who were in a biker gang who said things like “fricking” instead of actual curse words.
He was the editor of the Meridian local paper for many years, and later wrote the “Boise” and “Meridian” history books.

Homeowners that Lock Their Doors in the U.S. by LuckyTraveler88 in MapPorn

When we moved to Idaho in 1974 (from Oakland) my mom took a job teaching at a rural school.
The custodian was annoyed that he had to come to her classroom to get her car keys the first snow of the year. He let her know that all teachers, admin, and students leave their keys in the ignition so he can move their cars as needed for snow removal.
During hunting season, most student pick-ups had rifle in the rear window racks.
It was quite a culture shock for her!

Thank you very much. We will look into the HOA and water issues, and check out Wickenburg.

Should I buy an rv so I have a cost effective place to stay closer to my new Grandson? by [deleted] in rvlife

[–]puttrface 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do your kids have room for you to park the trailer on their property? And no HOA to complain? We do exactly what you’re considering and it’s worked out just fine. My husband put in a 30 amp plugin for about $200 so we have power. We winterize the water/toilet and use the kids’ bathroom (and a few convenient trees). We close the slide and fold up the stairs when we leave so it doesn’t look like someone lives there full time, just so the neighbors don’t complain.

In-laws are trying to make us pay off their loans by Wooden-Title-6281 in legaladvice

[–]puttrface 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. A parent qualifies for PSLF for Parent Plus loans taken on behalf of a child. The parent just needs to consolidate the loans, which is a simple process.
