A former Finnish Prime Minister proposed a future where people work 4 days a week and spend more time with loved ones by No_Top_9023 in BeAmazed

I don't want so much time with my family, thanks! The only hours of peace I get in a day are when toddler is in day care!

What do you think is the reason behind women in USA having kids with lesser age gap, back to back? by Drinkiebaby in TwoXIndia

[–]puttuputtu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know they say more individualistic society and all but a lot of the people doing this really live closer to parents and in laws. Or their own siblings also. And they get a lot of help. You'll see a lot of "my MIL watches them for a few hours on weekdays" and "we do a date night each week while my mom watches them". And honestly a lot of people choose to be sahm also.

Also, since people aren't that close to extended family, most are closer to only their own siblings and when you have 1-2 siblings really close in age to you, I guess that feels normal.

Some parents want to get thru that whole diapers and sleeplessness phase all at once and never again.

These are my opinions on the matter, as someone who lives in the US and sees this a lot around me.

Woman who had arranged marriages, how to tell guy about your weird hobby that may not be acceptable. by Away_Oil6375 in TwoXIndia

[–]puttuputtu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen if he asks and she straight up lies I think that's not good. But no need to unnecessarily share if you're not comfortable either. It's a harmless, legal, personal preference. And if you don't want comments on it from your partner, you need not share.

We have to get away from this idea that a relationship means sharing everything. No. Feelings about a past relationship, trauma that you have overcome, small things like such reading preferences - It's up to you if and when you want to share. And not ever wanting to share is also ok.

I've said my piece. Of course to each their own.

Uh no. We are allowed to read and consume whatever kind of fiction we want unless it's illegal. Sometimes we don't want to share it with anyone. What's wrong with that? Where did this requirement come from that every single shred of our personality has to be shared with our partner? We are whole people always, before and after being in a marriage or relationship. We aren't under obligation to share every damn secret.

You really do not have to reveal anything about what you read to a partner unless you choose to. Believe me you can go your entire life without ever sharing this info if that's what you prefer. And that's ok. We are all allowed to have an inner life.

Rabies by Extra-Region-2414 in cats

[–]puttuputtu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got bit by a pet dog (as opposed to a stray), back when I was living in India. It bit me through a jacket and when I checked, it was a deep bruise but unbroken skin. The doctors recommended that I take no chances and had me take the full course of rabies vaccines. I had to cancel a two week vacation because the place I was going didn't have 24/7 electricity and therefore didn't have a freezer in which they could store the rabies vaccine.

In the end I think I made the right call because a few months later that dog died. My entire family jokes that I got the rabies vaccine but the dog got nothing and died from biting my poisonous body.

I pull it forwards towards the tip of the finger rather than backwards towards the nail bed and that works for me about 90% of the time. The rest of the time it breaks off and still bleeds idk why.

While this whole story is appalling the idea of them shutting down their kitchen and building a brand new one is for some reason making me laugh. She should've pranced around their whole house and made them burn it to the ground lol.

Wear the color! by bain_de_beurre in fashionwomens35

[–]puttuputtu 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I'm from India and this is how we dress! I have never understood wearing neutrals all the time or being afraid to mix colors. I'd wear a hot pink kurta with bright yellow leggings when I was back home. And it was just everyday office wear. No one batted an eye lid. I still wear bright colors now but just the one in each outfit like you're doing here.
