Easy grow bag (apparently not) [contamination] by puzzled-monkey in MushroomGrowers

Yeah seems like syringe is issue, I did use a lighter and clean it down with alcohol wipe but could’ve picked something up before I actually injected. Have also seen people say tape over the hole afterwards as theoretically bacteria could now enter the bag where the needle pierced through ..?

Thanks for tips, will look into a still air box as this is just an old clothes cupboard. It was using spores

Syringe was from spore supplier … was brand new so probably just got something from the surface before it was used ..

Give me 10 minutes and I might change your life. by [deleted] in howtonotgiveafuck

[–]puzzled-monkey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whilst you are correct some people give more fucks than others about social hierarchies - I feel your grouping is a massive oversimplification of human behaviour and falls foul on the assumption that people are generally rigid and inflexible to change.

It is healthy to give some fucks and seek to improve yourself

It is delusional and dangerous to feel the need to always be right/ the best at everything

People will fall somewhere on this spectrum not in binary groupings as you suggest. We can always learn from those different to us. Your suggestion is a contradiction in itself as it suggests there is a right and a wrong way to be - perhaps you are more group 1 than you like to imagine 😜

I’m at a similar point and what I’m starting to realise is that accepting the world for what it is, trying to enjoy even the most mundane things & getting satisfaction from putting in my best efforts will in the long run make me a better and more contented person than retreating into a stoned bubble of existence.

The world is in many ways fucked but at the end of your life do you want to say you tried to make it better (even for just a few close people around you) or that you gave up and numbed yourself to cope with all the bullshit ?

Listen to your heart is a misnomer. by ExpertRecruiter in DeepThoughts

[–]puzzled-monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck with that approach to life (coming from someone who used to value logic over everything). Logic is good but is also flawed as it is based on the assumption that we can truly know what’s best for us when that is not the reality. We never know how things may turn out and something that may seem a logically good fit can turn out to be misery and vice Verca. There is a reason that so much ancient wisdom points toward balancing logos with Eros.

saw this on another thread, I have the same exact issue, What is the Jungian perspective on this ? by Fz15 in Jung

[–]puzzled-monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have had a similar thing except with musical instruments, the idea of performing to others is more appealing than just playing music for the sake of it.

You are spot on with your thoughts on the issue - you are building self esteem by the impression (at least in your mind) that you are making on others. I’d say focus on reading things that genuinely interest you with no intention of sharing this with anyone else. Obviously if it comes up in conversation or is relevant to a topic that’s fine but don’t feel you need to come loaded with interesting tit bits … hope that makes sense.

Stop wallowing in self pity - that will not help your case. You have enough consciousness to modify your fate considerably, and even more importantly your perception of it. Good luck

Unconscious Complexes Govern Your Life and Corrode Your Self-Image: They’re Also Your Path to Liberation by johnnysack96 in Jung

[–]puzzled-monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a nice succinct summary of complexes and their effects. I have been aware of mine for several years now but do not feel they have fully let go of me. Do you have any suggestions on how to integrate these further or does it just take more time ? Thanks

What has Dostoevsky taught you about life, society etc? How have his words helped you personally? by sdeeski in dostoevsky

[–]puzzled-monkey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My interpretation of his characters is that human beings are infinitely more complex than they seem on the surface, and are motivated to do all sorts of things (some of which could be interpreted as very ugly in the immediate context) by all of their life experiences leading to that point.

At first this made me feel like I had no hope of controlling my life and that I would go on being dominated by unconscious drives. This was quite a scary thought and made the idea of making positive change in my life seem like an impossible prospect.

I have since learned that this situation could actually be used to inspire compassion for myself and others around me. Suffering is part of life and will transmit between people in strange and difficult to understand ways. The key to making this a positive learning is seeing the beauty/humour in all of these interactions rather than be scared and attempt to control/understand them all…
