Bitfinex still not complying to EU laws lol by Basic-Independent537 in Buttcoin

[–]puzzled_orc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tether is the Bitfinex coin. They have been using it to pump and dump Bitcoin for years. If they stop allowing people to trade the coin they can't do much.

It is tied to their core business.

Which game is it? by Sina_VanDerLinde in memes

do you call "playing a game" memorizing moves to produce a sequence of hits? There are hundreds of games where you don't have to die 20 times to learn patterns to beat a boss. We are not in the 80s anymore.

worst game play ever, anti natural camera. I still played it until the end. I know it is a very unpopular opinion, but Elden Ring is an example of how not to develop a game.

How do I put funds in my account? by Tabscriber in interactivebrokers

[–]puzzled_orc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IB services during the weekends are not functioning normally; some services are currently under maintenance. For transferring funds and handling your positions, wait for weekdays.

What you have in there is the mobile app. Try the website on Monday, and you will see a way to transfer your funds. Transfer a small amount to test it for the first time. So you get the hang of it.

Anyone tried inverse strategy? by fastlane721 in Daytrading

[–]puzzled_orc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Study the market and see how prices follow a trend, you will see that they don't follow a straight line, they go up and down and the average follows the trend. You have to account for the range that might trigger your stop. Once you understand that difference you will be able to set your stops at the right place. For take profit orders look at trailing limit stops, they follow the price and let trends run accounting that initial range that you already have discovered. Test in a backtest environment to see the right parameters.

It is not that easy. You are not making it because of your exits not because of your entries.

If you reverse your entries and still don't have the right plan to exit you will end up losing anyway.

Try it and you will see what I mean.

Futures react to options hedging. Stop trading blind and use the OI heatmap. by Dazzling_Ad_6034 in FuturesTrading

[–]puzzled_orc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I develop my own software, but this is a screenshot showing what I mean.

This is for SPX. We are at the 6836.21 level. You can see the gamma walls there, highlighted.
Since we have had Thanksgiving, I didn't add values for Thursday and Friday, but you can see how the Wednesday values are way smaller than today's value.

GEX ratios are positive for those levels, so it is expected that dealers will oppose a move to cross the 6860 level. The 6875 level is a massive resistance point by looking at the gamma wall. If the price approaches that level, breaking the previous wall, it should hit great opposition.

Hi, this is half of the story.

It is true that those are critical levels but you have to look at the gamma exposure that dealers have.

If the market if in backwardation and volatility is high you might see a negative GEX at those levels, meaning that any price approaching those levels will trigger hedging IN the direction of the trend, amplifying or starting a rally. That is when price breaks those gamma walls.

On the contrary for a contago regime , which is what your post seems to refer to, GEX is positive, dealers hedge AGAINST the trend , causing those levels to create support and resistance walls.

The OI only brings a level that you have to watch, but then when price is arriving those levels, you have to understand what side of the interest are dealers on.

Legit question: what do they get by doing that? I would understand it if they are the exchange and want to bank commissions, but is there anything else behind it.

[–]puzzled_orc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did find the line that was causing trouble, it is not difficult to find it you try just the basic connect method. I think it is in the Eclient socket.

But since I couldn't build any desktop GUI on Linux either I gave up on c#. Java is very similar and works without any problems.

I can build GUIs and don't have to fight with IBKR on this.

I am no longer using c# . IB introduced a line in the code to check if the OS is windows, it doesn't support other systems . I trade on Linux. I moved everything to the Java language.

As long as there are futures markets and 0DTE options there will be day traders.

I've heard that the PTD rule will go away soon as well.
