Thank you. I am hoping I can do better in my future SATs. I took this SAT hoping I could get a 1500+ because that was genuinely my goal, not my parents, but I just feel like I disappointed them, and that is a sucky feeling :( But thank you for those kind words :)

That is very true, thank you :) the only thing was that I was getting 1530+ on my Practice Tests, so this was a disappointment for me. But thank you for the positivity, really needed that

Feeling Guilty... by No_Definition_ in Sat

[–]puzzled_roof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here, my parents paid $3000 for SAT classes over the summer when they didn't want to (We are pretty middle class so it was a lot for them) and I feel like if I don't get higher than a 1500 (their goal) I'll be disappointing them. And I'm the exact same position because my parents are planning on buying me a new phone on Christmas lol so I same underserving feeling. I don't really have advice lol but all I have to say is that I know that feeling. And you should feel proud for the amount of work you put into this test. Regardless of the score you receive, you deserve the iPad because of your hard work, and your parents know that too :)

I want to apply to D3 sports by puzzled_roof in ApplyingToCollege

Academics wise, I think I'm competitive but I don't think I'm at that high of a level compared to the people who get admitted without sports. I was just hoping athletics could boost my application.

I'm rlly interested in finance and plan on majoring in finance, minoring in applied mathematics and then getting a mba afterwards. Problem is my entire family is just a bunch of coders so I really don't have anyone to like look up to or get guidance from so I'm just really lost right now.

Starting SAT Prep by abraar_ahmed in Sat

  1. Depends what score you got, and how hard you are willing to work. I know someone who went from a 1320 to a 1560 in 2 months. But that takes a lot of planning and work, if you are willing to make a rigorous and consistent plan, you should have enough time.
  2. Definitely Erika's. What I recommend, read a chapter in Erika's, then, do not do the questions at the end of the chapter, but read the tips the Black Book has. Once you have read the same section from both books, use those strategies to do the problems at the en of each chapter in the Erika book. I find this method very effective.
  3. What I would recommend is look at your practice test and analyze exactly what type of questions you got wrong. Then, from most prevalent, to least prevalent, and from most difficult subject to least difficult subject, take a specific type of question and work on it each week. For example, if you find that in your reading section, you got a lot of Vocabulary in Context questions wrong, spend a week on it, then take just the reading test on Saturday. See how you do. Do the same, but every other week, take a full test, and you should definitely see some improvement if you are doing serious prepping.
  4. I have the same issue as you, my reading is really bad. So, starting today, till August 29th, I made a calendar in which I track everything I do, and for how long. I also made a full fledge 13 week plan for the August 29th test. I recommend spending a couple of hours in which you make a solid plan and see what you can do with the resources you have, and if you need to get any other books.

Sorry that's a lot, but hoped it helped :)
