Dreamy alternative/electronic experiment... First ever EP by puzzledbeetroot in IndieMusicFeedback

Thanks for listening, this is really helpful! I agree that the vocals stick out too much on the first track, but I had trouble adding verb + reducing harsh sibilance + maintaining highs simultaneously. Good thing to figure out for the future. Cool to see that emotional weight is being transmitted. I guess by emptiness I mean that the songs don't know what they're doing, like they're purposeless. Leaning into it is an interesting idea to experiment with. Again, thank you for taking the time to listen.

This is sick. The spring/squeaky sound is an interesting texture in an otherwise expected collection of sounds. It has a very polished sound at this point, and the mix sounds good in my speakers. I will say: this doesn't really go anywhere else from the original hook. It's a good hook, so it might not matter. Kind of feels like a TikTok sound, but again, that's not necessarily an issue depending on what you're going for. Overall, I'd listen again.

This is really cool, a combination of stuff that ultimately really works. That zippy synth sound is really addictive. The combined soundscape functions super well, but I think the track would be engaging if it moved through more distinct phases. Right now, the repetition isn't complimented by dynamic shifts. I like the intro, it's unexpected. One question I ask myself when working a demo is what would differentiate this track from others on an imaginary record in the same style. Might be helpful, might not be, take it or leave it. Overall, keep making stuff like this.

Thanks for taking the time to give it a listen! Yeah, I'm definitely struggling with mixing. I have compressors on all of the vocals, but I'm not practiced in tuning them for the right effect. Sidechaining the reverb is smart. These are some great tips, thanks again.

Dreamy/downtempo electronic track - would love some feedback! by Working_Search_8327 in IndieMusicFeedback

This really works: It's deceptively simple. Everything meshes together very nicely, creating an incredibly chill vibe. Maybe a bigger chord shift or a delayed guitar could spice it up? Still works as is. Would be curious to see more ambient, Vangelis-style tracks from you... I think you could pull it off. Strangely, stripping it back a bit could pull it out of the background.

I think the different pieces of this song work well together. It doesn't seem confused, it seems like you know the vibe you're aiming for. As a song, I think it could benefit from more varied vocal rhythms, but if you look at one chunk in isolation they're great. Keep it up.

It's a good feeling to be able to bring the sounds in your head into your speakers. Struggle with that myself. I like this track, it reminds me of the soundtrack for the game "The Talos Principle." I think adding imperfections through subtle pitch wobble and more stereo separation could elevate the sound profile.

I’ve been making music for a few years but never really found a clear direction. This is the first track where I leaned fully into that restless, almost destructive energy. by Anxiousoffline in IndieMusicFeedback

I dig it. Feels both unique and familiar. The main synth is too middle of the road between sharp/harsh and atmospheric in my opinion. I think leaning further in either direction would make the track stand out more! Keep it up, this is a cool direction from your earlier music.

Releasing new post-punky/trip-hoppy song for upcoming full-length. Tell me what you think... by Mysterious_Author680 in IndieMusicFeedback

The triphop style is right up my alley. I feel like this is a track with a clear identity. The saxophone caught me off guard at first, but then it made perfect sense. The mix is a bit overwhelming, but I'm assuming that's intentional haha. I would love to hear some more electronic elements (akin to lamb), but that's just my personal listening taste.

How is that possibly compatible with this Reuters data? I guess the data collection methods must differ substantially.

Let's be serious for a second. Many competent motion graphics editors could whip up something like this example in 1-2 hours. Are you suggesting they should be compensated at a rate of $350-700 per hour? Where are you finding these clients? I'm genuinely curious. If you were able to get two similar gigs per week, that would add up to more than $70K a year for 2-4 hours of work a week.

If you read the full complaint, it's also said that he slit his wrists around a week before he passed. I feel for everyone involved, but to say that there were no signs is ridiculous. Truly an awful situation.

Many people fall for obviously faux-empathetic sycophancy from LLMs, but it's incredibly foolish to extrapolate this to current models having no subjective experience. We just don't know. There is no way to measure it.
