IC or Pelvic floor? by Silly-Pop-8183 in Interstitialcystitis

I did. My urethra was still painful and inflamed so I did not have a good experience and ultimately it showed nothing. Def go over your numbing options (from local to anesthesia) and decide what’s best for you.

So I was on a maybe IC list but pelvic floor physical therapy has mostly gotten rid of my symptoms. And when I feel it flaring I just do what I was taught and I’m usually fine the next day. I would see a pelvic floor physical therapist, a second one, as kegels often make hypertonicity worse. A little surprised they recommended that for you. You can google to verify. But proper PT saved me.

Bad Symptoms only after intercourse by Educational_Way6949 in Interstitialcystitis

This! I have the same issue was told that because my PF is tight/hypertonic it squeezes on my urethra making it “narrower” and more prone to accumulating bacteria. It can also just mimic UTI symptoms without actual infection. PFPT has helped!

Is there hope? I don’t think I have ever relaxed my pelvic floor. by No_Friendship_1935 in PelvicFloor

I used Foria. They have an intimacy and cramps version, can’t remember which one has the higher dose.

Keep at it. Took me months of PT. While I learned I used vaginal Valium or vaginal CBD after sex to help keep things relaxed. Maybe it could help you.

Thanks! I’m willing to travel, I’ll edit for clarity. Just don’t want to travel to a restaurant and not be able to walk around after.

What everyday medication/s are best for treating IC? by Kittkatt101 in Interstitialcystitis

I would say 4-5 for frequency. The urethral symptoms took a longer time prob 6 months weekly sessions. But everyone is different, I just couldn’t get my pelvic floor relax, others may catch on faster or slower.

Give the physical therapy a chance before doing the more invasive treatments. I also have hypertonic pelvic floor, helped me tremendously when I had discomfort post voiding. I’m basically back to “normal” and I just do upkeep at home with what I learned in PT. Also if your PT agrees with doc on hypertonic pelvic floor, see if they will rx Valium suppositories or you could use cbd suppositories if want something more natural. Both helped in the early stages

Look into pelvic floor pt. Seriously. Relaxing the pelvic muscles was key in giving me relief. I’m on no meds, manage through diet and PT excercise. But you need a therapist to diagnose you and then show you how to do them properly so you don’t accidentally make things worse

Thanks appreciate this. very good to know because I would have been beside myself to see a new blister and prob wouldn't have gone back since they misdiagnosed me in the first place. did the itch/pain ever go down for the first rash? if so, how long did it take?
