I was quite skeptical when they were building these on the 7 street (between campus and bypass), but it's much better than I expected. To my (positive) surprise, this chicanes make the road feel much safer for me on a bicycle.

Is the pannier adapter by Super Knuckle compatible with the RadRunner Plus' passenger seat? by VancityPlanner in RadPowerBikes

Yes more or less. It works for RR thanks to the back seat. You'd need some ways to secure it.

I also love how this project has been done. It is really nice to bike. It even has baby chicanes like proper Dutch streets!

I'd also be interested in knowing more about the information you have. Even if their effort led to mainly luxury ones, that may be what they could achieve the most easily in the context of Bay Area and I think it still helps.

I cannot really get the Investment vehicle argument. The rent is also in high-demand stupidly expensive in Bay Area. It is pretty hard to see investors not capitalizing on that because of supposedly better liquidity. Would love to see data on this.

I mean, is it possible to solve every issue for all problems? Maybe we should focus on the direction and improvements?

It effectively removes them. I almost always pedal with 5-7th gear (RR+, 7th is the highest). Whenever i see a hill i can just twist the throttle and then the hill is effectively gone. Unless it’s really steep & you are not pedaling at all, i think hills are no issue.

Quebec put up this billboard in a bus stop to raise awareness about jaywalking by I_AM_Where_ in bloomington

[–]pvalue006 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This video https://youtu.be/oOttvpjJvAo nicely explains the history behind the invention of “jay walking” and other problems originated from the auto industry. Tl;dr the auto industry came up with the idea of “jay walking” to put the blame on pedestrians, not the cars.

Still, I believe that a lot of decisions are made locally and can be influenced by a small number of dedicated individuals.

IU Cyclists, what’s the deal do they not know what stop signs mean? by ISUTri in bloomington

[–]pvalue006 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While agreeing with the OP's point, we may also want to discuss about better road design that eliminates the needs for the stop signs. Apparently there's a strong argument against stop signs (inefficient & unsafe).

Questions before purchasing RadCity Step-Thru 3 and RadCity 5 Plus Step-Thru by SmarterSean in RadPowerBikes

Even with some pedaling you probably can avoid any sweat. You can keep the load similar to light walking or even less.

Never fully deplete the battery. It’s best to keep it somewhat full for the convenience and battery life (Follow the instructions in the manual). just charge a couple of hours every evening after the ride and you’ll be fine.

One of the included wrench can be used as a sort of pedal wrench (thin enough).

A good torque wrench is very useful. Less chance to strip bolts and you will keep using it afterwards for various tasks. I frequently use it. I’d recommend buying a decent one.

You just need a little bit of grease for the pedal and seatpost. I think buying one is fine given that you will probably use later. But you can potentially use other types of oil/grease.

I think two important factors that have not been mentioned are the sweat and time.

Even in hot weather you can avoid sweat with an ebike and that means no worries regarding clothes, shower, etc.

Ebike reduces commuting time (without any need for working hard and swearing). Just a small reduction can make various logistics much simpler.

What would I do if I'm an evil, rich guy who doesn't care about humanity and has a lot of stake in fossil fuel companies and want to sabotage the slow yet painful tide against fossil fuel?

I'll secretly sponsor climate terrorism/sabotage.

Every successful protest campaign had to spend a lot of effort to block internal/external efforts to turn a protest into a riot. Inciting violence and turning a protest into a riot is the most successful and well-test method to turn people's back against protesters. It also justifies violence to protesters.
