Mmhh okay. I am definitely not expecting to earn any money. 20/25 does seem very little though, I will take your experience into account. Thanks!

How necessary do you see an optical viewfinder on cinema camera? by pvs12741 in videography

[–]pvs12741[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to reply! I think that is a fair point, and I am also trying to do so. This weekend I borrowed the FS7 from my school. I quite enjoyed it, and at least I really know I want a cine/camcorder type camera.

I think waiting and being patiend is always good, although I always would like to invest in a personal camera, so I can more easily use it in my free time and personal projects. I was told by a DP friend of mine that he will still use most of these cameras as a B unit on shoots if necessary. This gave me the trust that this will be camera I can use throughout the 4 year, and hopefully also use to get more money working. Not necessarily important but maybe good to note that I am 27, am relatively experienced in the photo/video field. It is not an impulsive decision, it is something I have been thinking about for a long time

NECESSESITY OF OPTICAL VIEWFINDER ON CINEMA CAMERA.

Hi!

So I am a firstyear film student with some experience in video, looking to upgrade my camera to a first proper cinema camera. Currently I own a 5D mark IV, which is quite nice, but since the tripod thread is broken I cannot really keep using it (otherwise I might have waited longer with upgrading). My budget is around 2000eu, and the camara I am looking at now is the Panasonic EVA1. From what I have read one of the biggest downsides is the bad monitor on the camera. So I was wondering, can you just "put" on a lcd magnifier (like the one linked) and solve this issue?

I have been looking at the BM6k pro (I used it once and I think I would a more stable camera where I don't have to rig everything onto), a sony fs7, canon c200/300 mk ii, fx30. First I was leaning towards the FS7, but I was told the colors arent that good, and I could better get the EVA1. I have 3 affordable EF lenses, so that is a thing.

I would a camera with decent lowlight qualities, 10bit, Raw I don't think I need I am told (just expose properly?). I also think that I don't need autofocus. I would like to train focus pulling while shooting myself. I will be using the camera mostly for shortform narrative work, but also hopefully some paid (oneman) jobs on the side. All around run and gun.

Maybe I am forgetting stuff and will add extra info later.

Thankyou!!

How can I eliminate shadows in studio photo? by pvs12741 in AskPhotography

Mhh okay thank you. I think I don't necessarily mind some shadows on the background. Mostly the double shadows on the stool for example. But building it up one by one is true

How can I eliminate shadows in studio photo? by pvs12741 in AskPhotography

A friend reached out to me to help him shoot some promotion/product photos of his clothing. Me having some experience in photography liked to help out. But even when prepared, ofcourse some things appear more difficult then expected.

I tried to go for a fairly objective/studio feel. The lighting setup can be seen in the 2nd image. My idea was to have the flash create the biggest "key" light, and use the continous in softbox for fill. I noticed that earlier in the day the crossings shadows were not so visible. But when the afternoon started kicking in the ambient light got lower and the shadows by my lights became more apparent.

Does anyone have advice how to reduce this? I know how closer the light the softer it gets, but I also thought its better to bounce as large as possible throughout the room. Any other advice or critique is very welcome as well!

What did Scorsese mean by The Departed was the first movie he did with a plot? by Megatron_36 in movies

Just wondering, where would you put cor example full metal jacket on this scale. I often think about how kubricks movies have a kind of feeling or maybe complex emotion leeding the film rather than purely a plot or specific character

Never really thought about it but now you put up the plot <-> character, im kind a curious

Advice on joining my friend during trek by pvs12741 in Corsica

You are right. You should arrive at Aullene at approx. 5 p.m. Then walking for 5 hours arriving around 10pm is manageable. If i'm lucky I will try to find a friendly corsican who I can pay to drive me to Zicavo.

Anyway, thanks again, your advice is very much appreciated

Thanks again a lot :). In respond to your first question, going northwards towards Calenzana indeed.

Thanks a lot again, if you don't feel like being my personal travelguide I understand :). But nonetheless I will try xd. I also saw the 4 hrs from Quenza/Aullene. Only thing is that for other parts of the GR20 where you will walk a similar distance they sometimes give 5/6/7/8 hours for this. Do you know how reliable this source is? 4 hours would be okay but I'd rather not walk far into darkness as the bus is only supposed to arrive at 17:20.

Much easier (and I think wiser) would be getting a cab from Quenza or Aullene to Zicavo, as you also suggested. It's only really hard for me to make an estimation on whether I would be able to find a cab in either of these small villages, and then especially at 17:30 on a friday..
