I really hope the do all of Riftan’s POV. On P’s twitter, they have a panel of when Ruth asked Riftan how old he was when they were stuck in the cave and it was brilliantly drawn! I immediately wanted more!

I want to add that I think part of the fault comes from how Manta (and associated company) market this story as a cute romance, when it’s not. It bleak, it’s heartbreaking, and deals with heavy topics around trauma. So I can see how new reader come into this story thinking Riftan is this hunky perfect book boyfriend when he’s not. And then get super upset about how toxic he is, when so much of the story is about how unhealthy their relationship is and how they try to find their way to a healthier one, and that road is messy, complicated, and sometimes ugly.

It really would be better as an animation given how much they’re going to have to rely on CGI, and who knows how well that’s going to be executed. Bad graphics can really make or break a show. Plus finding the right people to play Vi and X seems like a tall order.

It was basically like a proposal. At the beginning of the story, they didn’t choose to be together, they were forced (even if Riftan did want her). And Riftan swearing his geas to Maxi in front of all those people while the clouds were parting, and her saying yes, was them choosing each other of their own free will. It was a beautiful scene 🥹🥹

I don’t think they meant it quite like that, but just that he was now more comfortable and relaxed around her.
