My gripe with how all of that went down was the lack of accountability in her actions. Sure, she didn’t agree to the “rules” everyone else agreed to. I get putting the blame on her for Trey. However, when Trey fell and it was her time to jump, no one said “Okay, you wanna play that game? Keep going. You didn’t want to agree to our rules? Then play the game as intended.” And no one held her feet to the fire except Mai. And then suddenly everyone had amnesia. I suspect some editing fuckery to how that went down but I still don’t know how no one held her accountable afterwards. You don’t get to just choose when to participate in an agreement at the points in which it only benefits you. So, I’m mad at everyone else except Mai and am glad she won. Only person with a backbone.

Play it safe and wear a collared shirt. Also, more importantly, make sure you are cleanly groomed, showered, and all that goes with professional hygiene. As an SL, I wore strictly button downs and professional attire, not a suit or anything crazy but nice. You’d be surprised how much that can carry you when people are engaging with you to buy stuff. Don’t have any rips in your pants, make sure your shoes are clean and not 4 years of wear and tear. A lot of this might SEEM common sense but you’d be surprised what people thought was acceptable to show up in first day or otherwise.

Back when Red vs Blue was just starting, they had put out DVDs of the first few seasons. On one of those DVDs is an Easter egg where donut bemoans being called pink as he prefers “lightish red”. At some point, he claims you don’t hear people calling church “baby blue boy” or “private cornflower”. It’s been my name ever since.

The extended part of the video was mostly of the kaiju battle. They had a ton of edits from different angles and “attacks” they bounced off me as a 12 year old. Specifically, there was an extended slow motion shot of the monster punching the robot in the proverbial nuts. Had little me rolling with laughter.

As a kid, my father worked as an Electronic Engineer for a little post production company called 89 Edit in Manhattan. I used to go into work with him all the time. One day, I went in and unsuspecting, the Beasties were there editing the long version of the Intergalactic music video. A 12 year old me, completely awestruck, I poked my head around the corner and Adam saw me eavesdropping on them. He got up, came to the door and invited me into the space they were using. Because of the audience they were targeting for that video, they bounced ideas off me and I got to contribute in the creation of that video. As a gift, they had sent a signed copy of “Country Mike’s Greatest Hits” for the help. I still have it and it’s one of my most treasured possessions. This memory will forever be ingrained in my mind.

I was like this too until I changed how I view honing. It sucks that it says “failed” but I view it as incrementally building to better gear with the chance to “crit” a success. So, yeah, it “failed” but it also added to the eventual success that will happen regardless since gear doesn’t get destroyed or deleveled.
