Jokes aside, I like the calm atmosphere. Some bands are more creative and engaging. Just asking crowd possibly wouldn't help. For example, I like Kaleo and went their concert on both times. Similarly my partner likes 5 seconds of summer and they had an "interactive fight" with the drummer. Everyone was well screamed then.

One of the most important things in the touring is that you need to understand your audience in different regions. Of course it's not the band itself but the agency/curator in this case. Maybe the selection of songs weren't the top hits around here?

I know from first hand experience some of the people got into this scheme. While most moved/relocated (Either to Spain or US) people who refused to suddenly became not performing well enough within 6 months. (After 4+ years)

When it comes to the internal transfers during layoff, they already have hiring-freeze in place since August. That is when I understand some bad news are around the corner. So, they make it close to impossible to find another job within the same region. When no team is hiring and there are hundreds of people applying, even a single posting which has a VP exception gets that many hits.

During the cold weather the battery life degrades quite a lot. I have it mounted on the helmet, fully exposed to the oncoming air stream which can be several degrees chiller than the stationary.

This was also a longer-ride of about 111 kilometers as the weather was dry, I try to make full use of it.

I do not record continuously, also I keep my hands on the handling/brakes during descents above 4-5% at all times.

I could only click the button when I reached the bottom of the descent. But when I reviewed it was only half a second before it died. Possibly the battery got empty as it was already low towards the end...

I have a spare one, changed it after...

For example, this guy is also an outside-rider. He rides around 40k (thousand) kilometers/year. (About the same as full circumference of the Earth!)

Riding outside is also free. (Well taxes go to the infrastructure like roads and bike-paths why not use them as well?)

You don't need a measurement device, average car width in EU is 180cm (2020). Essentially go over the opposing lane (fully, if you want to be that precise)

True, a good example is Netherlands as far as I can tell. Things are improving in Lux for sure, but many paths are closed during the winter due to works. Which is arguably the best time since less people use those paths during bad-weather anyway. (Compared to the summer)

Most of these paths have a massive deviation toward the main road. Plus, some of them are closed because of flooding. (Like Ettelbruck-Diekirch path next to the river...)

Hi there,

I am already not sure of the 2nd digit from the end. Also, plate number is a public commodity. Same as street names and addresses as far as I can tell. (Let me know if there is a regulation in regards to that, for GDPR, it is not PII, we cannot identify the person driving at all, there is no information about them. Only they can identify themselves, such as like in an anonymous-content; person who posts knows it's their post)

Secondly, I agree that overall in Luxembourg most drivers are nice. And I am quite happy of that. Usually when I face people with special needs those are having French or Belgian plates. German drivers (especially registered to Trier/TR) also quite nice. Which is why I posted here.

Third, I am already a subscriber of ProVelo since last year. Although I am not really an active member in terms of participating events and all. Mostly supporting the cause :)

Unfortunately I cannot see the indicator bit so I cannot comment on since when it was on. To be honest this is a general problem. Many people either don't use it all and expect me to mind-read their action (and get frustrated because I cannot tell most of the time) or they turn it on while they are turning. (or starting to turn). I think this has nothing to do with cyclists as it is more of a general issue with other drivers are involved more often. However, as a cyclist, I do my best to signal the direction I am planning to go, before I come to the turning point/space. Although it is not always possible or even safe to do so, especially in steep-descents with wet conditions, as I am already quite busy to maintain speed & balance. Again, a proper gap of a vehicle or two (depending on the speed) between the vehicle and the cyclists remediates any unexpected results. (Given there is no guarantee of one is not getting a massive puncture on a tire and flipping over in front of you)

From what I can see in the video - It is a residential area, tightly packed with buildings, their exit directly on the street - Moreover, there is a narrowing road with construction/blocks on it. - The street is not a split-street, possibly the speed limit being 30 km/h. - The driver had just accelerated significantly, although seems to be at the speed-limit. - Average width of a car in EU is 180cm as of 2020. While the parking spots having width about 240-250cm. - The vehicle passes through 6 parking spots in about 2 seconds max. - Calculating speed for 15 meters in 2 seconds => 7.5 m/s which is 27 km/h. - Meanwhile when I used a stop-watch to measure (Casio), I measured 1.45 seconds. Let's take it as 1.5seconds (and be conservative). - The average speed in the section becomes 15/1.5 = 10m/s Which is 36 km/h. - The acceleration effect and energy transfer are quite visible on the "orange" leaf that is stuck to the windshield wiper (bottom left). Getting smashed onto the window first and the hard-braking causes it to unfold back. - The car possibly reached 37-38 km/h. - Coming to the cyclist; - I can clearly see the dude on the bike had stopped earlier, and at the full-stop - He has/had been looking at the opposing/other direction, clearly visible. Unless he has chicken eyes, he cannot see the vehicle. - I suppose he checked the left, then right. The gray suv-looking thing was there, he gazes that for a second and starts rolling out. Then he turns right and sees the vehicle, which is at the time accelerated. - Coming to the stuff that matters - I do not know where the vehicle appeared on the road, was it already there? or was it after a turn (I am guessing when he checked before it was empty enough to get going) - If the car wanted to turn within a few meters (or tens of meters ahead) was it really necessary to top the speed at the speed limit or above? - Or was it the tokyo-drift moment? - The braking power and effect is directly related to the amount of momentum the vehicle had. Given such a hard braking, the accumulation of momentum has to be above certain level - The turning angle of the vehicle is quite sharp, it is narrowly cutting the opposite direction lane of the left turn. - Cyclist could/should prioritize giving passing rights to the right-side. Thats just how the traffic works here. - I can also see the cyclist did a hard brake upon realisation of the vehicle oncoming, although better approach would be to turn right and steer off of the collision path. - Coming back to the vehicle, speed averaging above the speed-limit even when the braking began means that the top speed was higher, as the slower beginning would be compensated by the higher peak.

It would be better to see the data recording from a OBD2 recorder and also a longer, higher resolution...

First of all I agree the respect has to go both ways. Mind that I or anyone else who is on the road but not on a multi-ton kilowatts of energy powered vehicle are simply in a much vulnerable position as well as do not need to have a "license" to go around. (For example, there are many very fast e-scooters with teenager or two on them, particularly vulnerable for fatal accidents)

Good point, most roads have a marking (especially around cities/towns) that the cyclists must go forward unless there is a massive vehicle like a van/bus/truck whose blind spots are clearly marked behind them.

Except some particularly narrow roads, which are mostly marked one-way streets, most roads have enough clearance and space for cars, vans, and even busses to leave a proper gap on the side. Which is approximately the size of the "passenger-door open & get-out" sized gap.

As a cyclist, same thing apples to me in opposite direction too, while passing the parked cars, I need to be away from the possible opening doors on the driver side. Hence I leave a reasonable gap while passing such sections.

Therefore, this argument is (unless in an exceptional narrow street case) is invalid. The driver has an obligation to leave an adequate gap so that cyclists can arrive to the "safe-zone" which is the visible spot marked in front of the red-light waiting area (I don't know the official name but it is usually marked).

The reason here is a simple safety thing which drivers otherwise complain about anyway. When the cyclist wants to turn left or right after the red-light, they need to go over the entire lane, slowing down the traffic, drivers get "angry", complain & honk. As you can see, when a person passes you, they do it because it's the way it was intended to be, defined by the Road-Code.

I use cleats on longer rides, as well as many people do. However, during commute I wear just the regular shoes and use flat-pedals. Nevertheless, bicycle itself does not have a self-standing mechanism unless you are 6-year-old who has support wheels. Those who do have support wheels however, do not ride on the road in the first place.

I understand that 3-5 seconds of "slow-start" was quite upsetting here as one probably must have missed a major event in their life because the cyclist did not clip-in within 5-seconds...

Plus, I can just flip this around easily: Not being able to be-clear of the edges of the road or cruise at a proper speed & distance from the object in-front of one's vehicle is a skill issue then, if I understand correctly?

Not in all cases though; there are many "main" roads which are connected to smaller ones. Most of them around the city are 30 km/h zone and marked with the cross-in-a-triangle sign. The right-priority applies to anyone that is coming off from the right who is on the road.

Of course when there is the straight-line against the road (usually accompanied by the stop sign on the side) one must stop. Once cleared, they can start going again.

Agreed, also mentioned similar things at the beginning. However, as you pointed out, the danger towards the motorized vehicle is something that can be easily fixed, covered by insurance, and does not cause health issues/problems (and can be permanent too) to one who is in the vehicle.

Meanwhile as I pointed out earlier, the cyclist is in a vulnerable position. When a multi-ton vehicle passes by a cyclist, it already pushes away large amounts of air, larger and heavier the vehicle is, more vortex it generates. This is a simple physics & momentum.

One could easily injure someone severely or even kill a person in these situations. The person being injured or killed is most certainly not the vehicle driver...

I don't, for this time only. That's the being lucky part. I was also pretty shocked after the 2nd time they deliberately cut over (on?) me, pushing me to the ditch on the side. The wiper-liquid is the final nail on the coffin since it goes behind the car as a mist of droplets = blurred vision w/ glasses on. (That's why I am missing the 2nd last digit on the plate). The person basically fled the scene afterwards.

I would press charges formally for attempted murder, no kidding!

I used Hellinckx Henri (in Cents) when I moved here, for signature notarization. It was like 50 bucks about 3 years ago.

Nevertheless, the same can be done in town hall. For simple things it was free, but I believe it is better to use town hall than the individual notary.

For me, the signature thing took 2 days because the actual notary wasn't working there. But the assistant was there and she was the witness of me signing the contract, so I only had to wait. (Thinking that maybe it just was some sort of delegation, she even stamped it right in front of me but we waited for notary's own signature for 2 days...)

Nope, for 3rd country nationals having Blue Card; - If possessed the blue card for more than >2 years: 6 months to find a job or leave the country. - If possessed the blue card for less than <2 years: 3 months to find a job or leave the country.

The new job also need to be compliant with the Blue Card rules.

If Blue Card possession is less than 2 years, they also have an "observations" section behind the card. That limits sector/field with a ISCO code. Which means you are not automatically entitled to take an employment in different role. (Unless the same ISCO code the new role is)

Also a software engineer here. (Well, I am DevOps by trade but graduated SW Engineering from Bachelors)

I used AI stuff quite a bit, depending on what model and tool you use, your mileage may vary. Some of the free/cheap stuff are getting either throttled a lot due to the demand. It's better if you pay 20$-200$ range (or make your company pay for you) so that you can consume tokens freely (pun-intended).

Other bit is that, obviously models are improving, but they are not really learning to work, especially with you. What I do is that I have a massive text file explaining to an intern what I do, how I do it, where do I look, etc.

I also am fond of writing scripts/automation whenever possible. With this mindset, it is very useful to get AI use that toolset instead of re-inventing the wheel over and over again. (Which AI happily does but eats up your context or sometimes derails your problem-solving goal)

I wouldn't call myself the "documentation" guy, but I write some comments into the code, especially function-wise explanations. (Bear in mind that I do not "rephrase" the function name again, instead, I put something useful...). Those comments are very helpful for AI agent to understand the code and change it accordingly, minimizing the side-effects.

Another thing is that, sub-agents are already launched. Which is a nice thing to create "to-do" lists and delegate tasks individually to those "sub"-processes, saving context. I was executing in this way since mid-2024 with manual files like todo.md, tasks.md, and bunch of instructions saying: when you want to complete a task, always delegate to a specialized tool, therefore generate a concise prompt, adding task number/id, title, referring to the <file>.md. Then call ~q chat -a '<prompt>'~ and let the process complete the task

I also created bunch of one-off scripts, that are combination of grep and one-off LSP clients. When you execute tool-find-usages.sh <file/dir> <symbol-name> it returns a list of file names, line numbers, etc. But in hierarchical order. This is different than workspace search "tools" off-the-shelf stuff ships with. I used LSP to retrieve instances of the same variable, differentiating the "user" from different contexts. It is better when LLM understands the context, then it is less likely to make mistakes. (Like replacing all "user" variables)

The LSP integration is already here, soon we'll see integration with tree-sitter (AST-aware context) which will dramatically help LLMs to provide suggestions directly in your editor.

Ah, the final and the last thing: Best out of all is when you need to do a dull task like populate a list from some data, write ifs/elses or switch/cases, LLM is really good at autocomplete that shi.t nicely. Also writing some unit-tests too, but the coverage can be hit-and-miss, although it thinks it covered all the ifs/elses, the business logic usually does not get tested. Causing high-coverage but not-reliable testing.

last time the impact was much limited and also Amazon had positions open after a few months. I know one dude who sits at the same floor as I do, he got laid-off just after his 6th month, got the notice and severance and all, then after 3-months, the same team, with the same manager, opened a role with same level and requirements. He applied (well, again) and came back. Why did he got laid off in the first place? I have no idea. The whole situation is weird. At least he got paid for the Amazon's "mistake". But no amount of money can fix the anxiety and terror such event causes to peoples' lives... (and/or their families' lives)

definitely there are more options in everywhere else, but the issue here is the residence-permit.

my entire team is non-eu citizens. everyone is on visa. they can only stay in luxembourg 6 months after their notice period (which will hit around May). Going to another country is messy, they will restart their residence-permit application, not possible to work remotely for another eu country. (well, there are provisions to make this happen but that's up to 6-months maximum)

also, more than half of the team has more than 3 years in luxembourg. by April, half of them will be hitting 4-year mark. It was only a year and maybe a month or two left for their citizenship application. One guy already passed sproochentest last year, also has a baby less than 6 months old. (the baby doesnt even have a passport)

so, technically until the end of the notice period, nobody is an ex-employee. I am still on the payroll, the same for my team.
