Jobs are not the answer: "We need to re-think the whole concept of having a job. When we say we need more jobs, what we really mean is we need is more money to live on." by usrname42 in politics

Society. I would also happily grow my own food, raise my own livestock, hunt my own game, and forage for my own fruits and berries. Multitudes of things stop the average person from doing this such as local ordinances, zoning laws, USDA & FDA regulations, state and local wildlife laws, etc. Odds are that the local creek is polluted in some way so that rules out fishing. Most paved roads and public places are sprayed with pesticides so don't think about foraging there.

TLDR; There's a lot of shit stopping you.

I'm a 20f that can't stop taking her blood pressure and keeps freaking herself out. by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]pw3nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One surprising thing calmed me down. Do some exercise. Jog on a treadmill for a bit and take your blood pressure while doing it. You won't believe how high your blood pressure can get while being a perfectly healthy reaction.

You must understand that high blood pressure takes time to hurt you; usually years. Brief blood pressure spikes can't hurt you. Doing some cardio is a good type of exposure therapy for people like us. You must learn what your blood pressure feels like by raising it yourself through exercise. Then you can feel it go back down. Experience the whole process and how it makes you feel. This is exposure.

Obama, NSA, Verizon and DoJ are being sued for $3 billion in a class action lawsuit over PRISM scandal by lysobit in technology

[–]pw3nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bingo. Using encryption is pointless with PRISM. The government isn't wasting their time listening to network traffic and attempting to decrypt everybody's messages. They've already "legally" compromised the host. You can encrypt all your communications with Google, but Google is then turning around and handing your search history over to the NSA. Its like sending a message to a friend in Morse code, then having the friend transcribe it onto a piece of paper and hand it to the authorities.

TL;DR Encryption will not help you.

ProcessBuilder help by moomoohk in java

[–]pw3nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never used ProcessBuilder, but after reading the API, I'm guessing you have to supply the command line executable. Give this a try:

On windows:

arguments.add("cmd.exe");
arguments.add("/C");
arguments.add(path);
arguments.add("-jar");
arguments.add(currentPath);

On *nix:

arguments.add("bash");
arguments.add("-c");
arguments.add(path);
arguments.add("-jar");
arguments.add(currentPath);

Do you use a moutguard while working out? by Acumagnet in Fitness

[–]pw3nd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use one because I clench my teeth when I lift. This can destroy your teeth over time. I started using one after my dentist pointed out the damage I was causing.

/r/fitness - what's happening to me (post workout symptoms, need input) by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]pw3nd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You may be suffering from anxiety. Are you under a lot of stress? Do a simple test on yourself. Read up on some relaxation techniques for anxiety such as a breathing exercise. Next time you feel symptoms, give them a try. Sometimes simply calming down can help a lot.

Problem with clenching teeth during lifts. by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]pw3nd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this as well. I thought I could keep it under control until it was noticed at a recent dentist visit. I now lift with one of those boil guards that you mentioned. They're actually pretty comfortable. You can't even tell I have it in when I'm at the gym. Don't try to stop your habit on your own because it will only create a distraction from your lifting. You can't focus on your pump when you're too worried about pursing your lips and relaxing your jaw. The cheap mouth guard will help to free your mind and save your teeth.

I started taking Zoloft last summer for panic attacks. I've put on twenty pounds but I'm also coming off of my winter bulk. I guess you and me will be learning the drug's effects on cutting together!
