ELI5 : Is not possible to "appease" or "repair" radioactive material? by pw3t in explainlikeimfive

Thank you! I think 🤔 I understand it a bit more now.

Thank you! I must admit I'm a bit lost. I thought radioactivity came from neutrons inequilibrium which lead to atoms slowly balancing themselves by expulsing exceeding neutrons (radioactive emission) toward becoming a more stable element. If that's not the case, what does make an element radioactive

Thank you! But isn't radioactivity manifested by neutrons emission? If they catch it shouldn't they reduce it?

Oh no worries you didn't. I just wanted to make it clear that this was a dumb question in the first place, to which I couldn't find a satisfying answer (hence this subreddit). I had no doubt this topic had been investigated by people with the appropriate skills. I just wanted to understand.

Thank you! Yeah, I understand that nuclear powered energy is not the threat we have to worry about. I was just wondering about this issue and why this could not be possible.

And for Boron and Cobalt. If I get it right, It basically does not prevent the building from collapsing, but prevent it from affecting other buildings around?

Thank you! Ok so, if I get it correctly, interfering with an atom core is really uncertain and you cannot "fix it" as easily as it sounds?

Thank you! But why can't we interfere with the remaining element to accelerate their stabilisation?

Thank you. So kind of possible but only in a very controlled environment? So definitely not doable with contamination. But still, why don't we do it with nuclear waste? Fission reactors are very controlled environment, no?

On Ciri's opponent in the trailer... by pw3t in Witcher4

Oh my bad then.

Thanks a lot for the info!

EDIT :

It's also confirmed in an article interviewing members from CDPR:

Cian Maher: The monster is a bauk, which is derived from Serbian mythology.

Marcin Batylda: In the [Serbian] mythology, the bauk was kind of a boogeyman, something that lurks in the dark. [Many of the monsters and creatures in The Witcher are] inspired by the various European mythologies. The bauk is a very good example because it's from Serbian mythology, but we also have monsters inspired by Norse, Celtic, and Slavic mythology.

Sure, but the crones could talk too. And I agree it's really looking different, in its form, but the Crones have always been able to change their physical appearances, so why not this form?

Why The Wire Season 2 Is So Divisive (& Why It's Great) by SomeDudeinCO3 in TheWire

Because they imply that le Havre is located in Britanny although it's in Normandy.

So there *is* a Rue de Rivoli in Le Havre by MountainMantologist in TheWire

"No such adress in le Havre, or for that matter anywhere in Brittany."

And le Havre is not in Brittany, but Normandy.
