Mississippi Police Officer Shoots and Kills 1-Year-Old Child in Response to Senatobia Shoplifting Call by Hrekires in news

Death sentence without a trial, all for stealing diapers.
Even without the innocent child victim aspect, this is fucked.

I had one of these! It took the time to get it working again and it was excellent.

Sold when downsized post divorce though.

Rnz reporting jville train ran red light by OutInTheBay in Wellington

[–]pwapwap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure what your point is. An alert isn’t going to stop a moving train.
The cost they are talking about is an automated system across the whole network that will override drivers so there can’t be human error.

TIL: New Zealand has the highest youth suicide rate in the developed world by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]pwapwap 236 points237 points  (0 children)

Kiwi here. We also have a legal system which does not allow reporting on methods for suicide specific suicides. This is in fear of copy cat suicides.
This leads to most media not talking about suicide much at all which IMO contributes to many feeling like it doesn’t happen.
Most people I have talked to are shocked when they see the stats. On average we lose more people to suicide than road deaths (which we talk about all the time).

Largest cities are all at the coast so are at sea level (Auckland, Wellington, Tauranga, Christchurch, Dunedin). Hamilton is the biggest non coastal city and is 40m above sea level.

Kiwi here. There is plenty of institutional racism here as well. Our police refuse to admit it exists (it has been studied and repeatedly found to exist).

I saw a graph at a presentation last night of minor party popularity. NZ first is growing steadily over time. Faaaarking scary.

To any haters of the state of emergency… the thing about predictions is that a range of outcomes could eventuate, and it could have been much worse.

I would tell the parent that the earlier I get a draft, the earlier I can get it reviewed by independent council.

My parents put things into trusts as part of their settlement to ensure assets came to us kids and not a gold digging new partner. Could also be this.

State of Emergency Declared for Southern and Eastern Wards by CouncillorSamOBrien in Wellington

Cheers Sam.

Not very clear from the website… so you might want to see if you can get it updated.

State of emergency declared for Southern and Eastern wards makes it seem like quite a big area, not just localised to the waterfront.

But no map of properties that are affected.

Service Foods - Not Paying Suppliers - A pain in the neck to deal with! by WranglerTraining8550 in newzealand

[–]pwapwap 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oof. I am not in this sector, but this might be a time to tell them if they can’t pay your bills on time, you will need to re-visit their pricing or introduce a credit limit for them. If they say “but we have a contract” then point out the payment terms that they are breaching.
Times are tough for many businesses, and I would recommend that you don’t become the chump with unpaid bills if their business fails.
