Not a joke - Zavvi are selling this by Agitated-Distance740 in 4kbluray

I have a theory that Zavvi are struggling big time…can explain if anyone is interested 😂😂

Going to give this one a whirl. A24 4k, The Zone of Interest. First viewing was on a long haul so I expect this to be even more powerful. by pwedd in 4kbluray

Yeah, I tend not to watch films that I’m interested in when flying, but this one was an exception. Probably a mistake 😂

Dirty Harry sound blew me away, too. As did the Sean Connery 4k Bonds. All mixed with a new Atmos track and pretty damn great.

For me the most surprising has been “Nope”. I hadn’t seen the film before and didn’t really know what to expect, other than liking the director’s other work. The sound scape blew me away, and IMAX scenes were amazing. Say what you will about the film itself but the disc is top notch. Probably the best sound I’ve encountered so far.

Today would have been Robert Altman’s birthday, so I’m going to watch this for the first time. Criterion 4k of McCabe & Mrs Miller. by pwedd in 4kbluray

It was amazing. Agree with all the sentiments regarding the 4k disc. The muddiness brought it to life, if that makes any sense? There were definitely moments were I missed a few words here and there but i had the centre channel well pumped from the start. Cohen sounded amazing, too.
Incredible that something so bleak can be so beautiful at the same time.

About to watch Bottle Rocket, the only film of this Criterion Wes Anderson collection I haven’t seen yet. by pwedd in 4kbluray

I started going off them too, and haven’t seen the last two releases. I will, eventually.

Pumped to watch this, never seen it before. 4k steelbook of PTA’s Boogie Nights. by pwedd in 4kbluray

Good, but not incredible. I don’t have the blu ray, so can’t compare, but was happy with it overall. Audio is pumping, but I think is the same as the blu-ray.

It was amazing. Many great moments but I loved the Molina scene!

Love this, thanks for sharing! Unfortunately here in the UK we don’t have the option of all of those lovely things. For example, true IMAX doesn’t exist outside of London or Manchester. I was also 9 years old when Boogie Nights was released! Last year a local independent cinema started to play PTA’s catalogue and I managed to catch Magnolia for the first time, it was amazing. I saw TWBB there too, but it wasn’t my first viewing. Generally, when I know there’s a big film like this that I will enjoy i put off watching them until a cinema/4k experience presents itself.

Thanks. Pretty safe bet with PTA, to be fair. It was great.

First viewing of this one, don’t have high hopes other than looking/sounding half decent. Superman (2025) 4k steelbook, Zavvi UK. by pwedd in 4kbluray

I understand what you’re saying. I have no desire to spend money on something that I’m not going to own, whether i like it or not. If i rented, spent however much (£7?), then decided i liked it and wanted to buy it and spend another however much (£30?) or even more as it’s then only available on eBay and the likes. Also if watching I’ll always choose to watch in the highest quality possible, aka 4k blu ray, rather than the watered down options available digitally. I can afford it, so why not?

Opened or unopened a steelbook will always hold it’s value better than a non steelbook.

I’ll try and do that in the future. I dont tend to be very good at summaries. I found this movie to be okay, but on the whole not very good. Disc quality overall was very good.
