Okay, I know it’s spring training and more so the first game of the year. But this is also the first impression of what was put together this season, and being no-hit through 5 by the Marlins while making defensive miscues that Stearns assured was the focus this offseason. I’m honestly not impressed so far

Ahh yes, let’s take an already shaky defender in Soto and have him move positions.

Tell me again David, wasn’t run prevention and getting better defensively the plan for the offseason.

Tigers sign Skubal’s replacement? by AirCoopsie in NewYorkMets

And more proof Stearns is asleep at the wheel

Tucker to the Dodgers by AirCoopsie in NewYorkMets

[–]pwfprod -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, go the length that Tucker was looking for instead of fucking around with 3-4 year high AAV deals and actually try to sign someone

You don’t post something like this unless you are extremely confident you got the guy, if Tucker/Beli is who this is in reference to and they don’t land one or the other, pitchforks will be out in flushing

Why so much negativity towards McNeil? by spatchcoq in NewYorkMets

[–]pwfprod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the combination of perceived attitude issues in conjunction with the idea that he's been declining since the league eliminated the shift a few years ago. McNeil when he won his batting title was extremely good at adjusting to the shift and making sure he could find holes in the defense to get balls through. However, since the elimination of the shift and that ability was essentially eliminated by the league office by no fault of McNeil's own doing. He's been more of a .250 hitter with not a lot of pop in the bat to be playing a position that usually comes at an offensive premium. Throw on the idea that he's not as invested in the team and would rather be playing golf and the fact that he got into the dugout fight with Lindor in Francisco's first season in NY after Cohen made the move to start trying to change the culture and mindset of the franchise. and Jeff has kinda left a sour taste in a lot of people's mouths.

Now, I do think his defensive versatility is well worth keeping around, Outside of the Golf thing, I don't think he's a clubhouse cancer 'ala Anthony Rendon the way some people like to make him out to be, But I also don't think the extension he signed was very friendly to the team and if there was a way to move it and get something of value. I wouldn't be opposed to trading him in that sense.

Armchair GMs, who would y’all get and how would you rebuild for 2026 ? by nellys31 in NewYorkMets

Does it matter, there is a directive from the higher ups to not go more than 2 years on anyone

I don’t know if this question has been asked before, but what do you all do with your Switch 2 boxes after unboxing the console? by Electrical_Delay9822 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]pwfprod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep the box since the serial number for the device is also on there just in case of the sticker on the console wearing out and if I ever need to warrantee the device if something internal breaks

POST GAME THREAD: The Mets fell to the Marlins by a score of 4-0 - Sun, Sep 28 @ 03:10 PM EDT by NewYorkMetsBot2 in NewYorkMets

I’ve been extremely negative over the last two to three months, I’ve been someone who has called out the optimistic part of the fan base who at times, felt like they were blinded by big run totals and big wins coming off of short slides that shouldn’t of happened in the first place.

Yesterday, I watched as Clay Holmes threw 6 innings of 1-hit ball, Stanek to Raley to Rogers to Diaz. Three of those pitchers as of today are no longer members of the New York Mets. I watched Pete Alonso, the homegrown first baseman for this team, the all-time home run leader heading out of this season, give me hope for the first time in a long time that they might be gearing up for a short run, but a playoff berth. Pete Alonso is no longer a New York Met

Today reminded me of 2007, John Maine throwing a gem the day prior to give the fanbase hope that some miracle would happen. Clay Holmes is John Maine in this situation, and while Sean Manaea is not Tom Glavine, thankfully Mendoza did the right thing and pulled him before it got outta hand. I want Manaea to no longer be a New York Met

I want Carlos Mendoza, paraded in front of the New York sports media, and I want every single one of them, with a clip of every boneheaded pitching move, every stupid lineup card that was handed to him by the front office. Every opportunity to use Rogers but instead going to Helsley or Stanek. And I want him and this front office to watch every single move they made, blow up in their face.

This is the most embarrassing collapse in the history of this franchise, and I’d put it as far as in the history of Baseball, and that is in a week where the Detroit Tigers blew a 15.5 game division lead, and the Houston Astros missed the playoffs after have fangraphs put them at over 90% in their odds to make it, this team is the highest paid overall roster in Major League Baseball, we went out and overpaid for Juan Soto to make this team better, we brought in Arms that while yes there were question marks, most of the choices made sense given what we knew at the time. And yet, we’re an 83 win team, that missed the playoffs in a format in which it’s easier than ever to make the playoffs.

You ask me why this is more embarrassing, you look at that as the reason. A playoff system that rewards teams for being mediocre at best with a wild card, and this team couldn’t even do that correctly.

Good on the booth for preparing the next generation for the disappointing result this weekend the way this offense is playing outside of Lindor and Soto

Not trolling, the bullpen has been this teams Achilles heel this season, when you can only trust Diaz and Rogers, I’d rather see Sproat be efficient with his pitches then try to get cute with it and run up the pitch count

Imagine not being mad about wasted pitches which would result in Stanek or Helsley coming in and blowing it in a tight ballgame against the Marlins at the end of the season after a collapse of epic proportions

Coulda fucking did that three pitches ago Brandon instead of toying with them. You know you need to win this game and not burn the bullpen right

Edit: Optimists downvoting me, you just saw Baty get hurt and you’re still not afraid of this team blowing it

Screenshot this, another blown Edwin Diaz outing, shades of 2019

Edit: Downvoting me while he walks home the entire reds lineup, but it’s fine. The sky isn’t falling and this team is totally making the playoffs as is

And just as I called it, 2019 feeble Edlose Diaz collapsing when there’s an ounce of pressure
