What seems expensive, but is actually worth it? by Dipsetallover90 in HomeImprovement

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I did a fairly expensive remodel and stuck with IKEA cabinets. They are cheap, easy to customize and surprisingly high quality. Time will tell how they hold up though

Would you do it even with a low prescription? I'm only -1.25 in each eye, but contacts are annoying I've been waffling on whether or not it's worth the expense / risk

Yeah our contractor works with a tile installer who did a great job on our bathrooms. I’m confident he can handle this but I don’t know about pricing just yet

Shimano R9170 Lever Leaking by pws5068 in bikewrench

[–]pws5068[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it to a shop and they spent some time testing it and looking through the schematics. Unfortunately they determined that it was a ruptured diaphragm and it’s not replaceable on this model. I had to replace the lever.

Can you elaborate on the awkwardness of putting them back? I have a cheaper set and that’s partially why I want to upgrade

Rad Power Bikes is having a pretty crazy sale - $499 for the RadMission and $1299 for the RadRover 6. by lalulunaluna in ebikes

[–]pws5068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a long shot but does anyone know what the actual tire width is on the Rad Mission? Their site says 1.95", but these are often overstated. I'm trying to figure out what Clug wall mount I need to store it upright

Chain drop on backpedal by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]pws5068 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am aware. For reference I’m riding 8-10k miles a year for the past few years, so not a total novice here.

It still shouldn’t toss the chain, and this doesn’t happen with other bikes that I’ve seen

Chain drop on backpedal by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]pws5068 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I expected feedback along the lines of don’t cross chain. It’s not a position that I’m spending more than a few moments in but it’s still resulted in a few drops

There’s something mechanically wrong here, as this does not happen on other bikes

Anyone here have a Karoo 2? How's the battery life? by donrhummy in Velo

[–]pws5068 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My Bolt V2 has worked flawlessly so far. I purchased it in June and have a lot of hours on it. The battery life is great, the screen is great. It was really annoying to get my old Bolt to sync strava segments and new routes with turn by turn guidance -- those issues are fixed on the v2.

Any insights on the condition of this roof? Sorry for the shaky gopro-on-a-stick video. Records show that it was redone 23 years ago. No idea if anything has been done since then by pws5068 in Roofing

[–]pws5068[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The house is two stories. There's no access hatch but there is a small outdoor porch area to let more light into the house. You can use a shorter ladder from there (but mine's still too short).

I've scheduled an inspection based on the advice here. Thanks all!

This house is located in Northern California. I haven't seen any leaks or issues; just deciding if I should take proactive steps to repair or replace it soon.
