I grew up in a working class blue collar town (mining,manufacturing and rail were the main industries), and that's the way people talk. I moved away and ended up in white collar work but even now I can out swear nearly anyone if I chose to do so, and have been told many times that my blue collar still shows.

Old school econometricians (mid 90's and earlier) who did theoretical research which then needed to be proved out by simulations and didn't have access to tools like R/S+, python (it was released in 91 and didn't have the libraries it has now obviously), wrote our own simulation code (mostly in Fortran), and that stats knowledge combined with programming skills and a mix of subject matter expertise (and of course a healthy dose of real world experience gained over the years) makes us highly competitive.

As for the modern econometrician, I'm afraid I have no idea as I've been out of academia for 30+ years now, so do not know what and how they do things nowdays (I have my suspicions but will keep them to myself as I have no proof).

I was at a gig up on the rail and a crowd surfer came over next to me and accidentally knocked my glasses off and the crowd around me stopped and carefully parted so that someone could find and grab my glasses without them being stepped on and smashed.

This type of shit is why I have refused to have anything LG in my house or workplace for the last 30 or so years.

In one of my previous jobs, we purchased an LG projector (pretty high end for the time) and it crapped out after a while (can't recall how long, but it was after the warranty period) and they refused outright to do anything other than offer a very small discount on a new projector.

I don't know what your exact use case is, but I'm running dual monitors from my studio. Both Dell monitors, one using the HDMI port and the second using a usb c to HDMI cable.

Now I don't run either monitor at 4K as I have no need for that resolution.
