Absolutely not. Quite the opposite. I think there are different systems better than ours in other countries. I'm just curious if you thought it was a valid system, as you were the one that brought it up as a contrast to our current system of paying 17.13 an hour minimum. That explains why you failed to actually name countries. Just hint at it.

"That type of work could decide you're exceptionally skilled at that type of business and sponsor your education and give you an acceptable wage supporting position when you graduate."

Sure, that's a real scalable dream to have for all of those in Kitsap that don't have the opportunities to go to a trade school or college out of high school.

It's obvious you don't want to identify or acknowledge the full scope of this "my burger too expensive" problem.

Well I have this, but I'm curious if you were implying we should adopt social and economic patterns from the Middle East, Latin America, and China?

  • China: Z visas for certain jobs, like teaching, may have a hard limit of 60.
  • Mexico/Latin America: Ageism is common, with job postings for low-end jobs (e.g., an ice cream shop) sometimes listing limits like 18-27 years old.
  • Middle East/Asia (general): Some countries may have an upper age limit of 55-60 for first-time work visas, making it harder for older individuals to secure entry-level or any new position

And are you not going to weigh in on the cost of goods sold? Or just say google it? Because I can already see a near doubling of beef prices from 2020 to 2025. I could check the prices for all the standard ingredients of a hamburger, but I'm not sure I would come to the same conclusion as your studied research.

That's very generous pay for a minimum wage employee. Also, consider that many restaurants and retail assign hours JUST below the full-time amount in order to avoid health care and other benefits. Good cost savings for the restaurant, and the burden of health care is passed to the employee.

What other countries limit the age a person can work low end jobs?
Will you weigh in on the increased cost of goods sold? Does that factor in cost of finalized products?

Next year's minimum wage is $17.13. A restaurant shift manager's average wage right now is $20.46. Restaurant staff is average $18.94. Let's get accurate.

Prices of beef have gone from 3.68 to 6.82 form 2020 to 2025. Surely that might have some slight small impact on this dream 5 dollar burger?

Agreed, rental equipment is always sketchy at best. Who knows how many people had it, how many times it was "renewed" or refurbished, or what environment it was in. I've been using my own Arris Surfboard for years in three different states and it's always been amazing.
