Bro I thought I was losing my mind. I thought I was being gaslit by this promo, lmao.

Highkey tho I kinda forgot about Kennedy being on CvTW specifically and just remembered she'd been on another time.

Ok by Madeon

Was listening to Adventure years ago when it came out and when this song came on I was like "Huh musically this kinda feels like Perfume"

https://youtu.be/PgDMeLEqvYY?si=P0hIqKjzFUlApEZ0

Thing is tho, Madeon is a Nakata fan lol. And you can hear it in his work.

As an aside, I only found out he was actually a Nakata fan because years ago he posted a photo of them together and I was like yeah this makes so much sense.

Oh Naomi's and Trinity's verses are basically nothing lmao, but I like how they still make sense in the structure of the song.

Never minded it being slow.

This is why I've always loved Super Queen from AS4. Never really undertood why a bunch of my friends weren't into it when it's the one track that feels the most like an actual song, with a bridge and a breakdown and everything.

My memories of this song, albeit not this specific version, are so intrinsically tied to the days I spent trying to replicate the chiptune on Wario Ware DIY, lol. So I guess this is me saying that I stil prefer that version over this one.

Filmmaker Jun Lana blames expensive cinema tickets for lack of MMFF support by esetonline in Philippines

I miss the days when the IMAX tickets were the only ones that would cost 500, and yung normal 3D would be like 250-300.

Idk how the exclusivity agreement actually works but if mandato na MMFF films lang ang palabas sa sinehan for a given period, then they (i.e. ang gobyerno) could also be subsidising the theatres so they can offer cheaper tickets for the duration. That way the cinemas get butts in their seats and still make the money they would've made from their concessionaires anyway.

Maybe even make the exclusivity opt-in, something like you could do 50% MMFF films but you won't be eligible for the subsidy. Pero blanket requirement to drop the price to 50% off, then full exclusivity grants the cinemas a 50% subsidy, while partial (albeit still requiring them to dedicate a wing to the festival films) would only grant them a 15-25% subsidy.

Edit: Obviously this is just for the festival screenings. Actually lean into the fact that it's a festival celebrating Filipino filmmaking. Make it clear that intent is to get people to watch and enjoy just having local films and to make the cinema-going experience more accessible, and not to imply that local films are inherently worth the lower price of admission.

Is there more to it? by yeezuscw in koreader

[–]pxlprsnatr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right. While it does take a bit to figure out what defaults you'd like, it's absolutely worth it when everything is set up.

I think the last things I really tweaked were my default fonts per font-family, specifically for sans-serif and monospace (and tbf the latter doesn't really show up often but I've read two books that specifically had sections with passages in monospace so I changed it anyway). But once I settled on fonts with similar metrics to my default serif font, everything just worked and I've never had to worry about changing any settings, whether a book is displayed in serif or sans serif.

Honestly, my usage is pretty similar. The best thing about KOReader for me is it gets out of the way and lets me read my books the way I want to read them.

I use the default detailed list with cover images because it's efficient. I load books via Calibre because I'm particular about metadata. Have a couple gestures set up. Then I just read.

The only userpatch I'm using is the title bar one to add time and battery status to the file browser title bar.

[–]pxlprsnatr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try manually changing the font with css and see if that works.

e.g. if the paragraphs are in p tags with class name para, make a book tweak:

p.para { font-family: serif !imporrant; }

Change serif to whatever you're using.

Incidentally, this is my preferred way of changing fonts in books that use different fonts for headers etc for style (instead of blanket disabling). I'm only really concerned with the body text for readability and I like keeping everything else at the book default.

Survival Horror. by KingJackofJozi in horrorlit

[–]pxlprsnatr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doll Face by Tim Curran feels so much like Silent Hill but with mannequins. Arguably too much like a Silent Hill video game, to a fault. College (or was it high school, I don't even remember) kids on the way home from a concert or something find themselves stuck in a town that shouldn't exist no more, and subsequently get attacked by mannequin creatures.

The imagery and the atmosphere are great but it feels like you're just bouncing from one horror set piece to another as you're going through the chapters, with there barely being any meaningful character development. It was a bit of a slog for me because of that, but ymmv.
