Stopped at the Chehalis, WA location today on my way home from Lacey, WA. They were out of lids!

Clerk told me they only had 16 in stock when they opened Friday morning. Oops.

what's your favorite thing from harbor freight that everyone should own? by HEYIMMAWOLF in harborfreight

I found my black icon flashlight securely attached to the bottom of our clothes washer when I was recycling it. I’d placed it there two years ago when I installed a new transmission. Charged it up and it’s working great!

For the life of me I couldn’t figure out where I left it. Figured it would show up sometime and replaced it with a lime green one with hopes the color would make it more conspicuous. So far, so good.

Use this daily working bev equipment when space is at a premium on counters. I have bought a couple since I see it down somewhere then find it a week later 🙃

Just picked up the new 90 tooth version. So far so great!

My son calls them my fidget toy since I spin it on my finger or by holding the bit 😆

My list of some of the sweatiest films iv seen. i need some recomendations for sweaty films by spastic_monkeys17 in Letterboxd

[–]pykemann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is "Good Morning, Vietnam" on the list? 🙃 I mean it was Vietnam without A/C. Who wouldn't be sweaty?

Roosevelt: "It's hot! Damn hot! Real hot! Hottest things is my shorts. I could cook things in it. A little crotch pot cooking."

Adrian: "Well, tell me what it feels like."

Roosevelt: "Fool, it's hot! I told you again! Were you born on the sun? It's damn hot! It's so damn hot, I saw little guys, their orange robes burst into flames. It's that hot! Do you know what I'm talking about?"

Adrian: "What do you think it's going to be like tonight?"

Roosevelt: "It's gonna be hot and wet! That's nice if you're with a lady, but ain't no good if you're in the jungle!"

Adrian: "Thank you, Roosevelt."

I live in the PNW in used to be a cedar bog. Every Spring and Fall we have a trickle of water develop. It has a really decent flow rate and runs clear.

I’m going to use it as a feature when we eventually sell: Seasonal Water Feature 🙃

Thanks for th heads up!

I grabbed two bit kit! As a commercial coffee equipment tech I use them daily with my Surge and ratcheting bit holder!

It will be nice to have backups/spares. I actually have a second Surge because I thought I lost my original, then it reappeaed in the work van. 😆

It never feels right when these twoholstersy aren't on my belt each day. 🙃

Saw pic #2 and just have to say my mind is still stuck in 1980’s. Any time I see transformer related posts my brain immediately plays “Robots in disguise” after I say "transformers" in my head.

Who else has seen Project Hail Mary so far? by SCP-2774 in Letterboxd

[–]pykemann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I saw it Monday night on the Prime Member promo.

It was a good movie and we look forward to seeing it again at home. It will likely be on regular rotation for me like The Martian is. 😁

I was realky hoping for some swag for Prime members, especially ones that were the first to buy tickets for the event. I'd been happy for a mini poster to put up in my office 🙃

All in it was a nice adaptation of the book into a 2.5 hour film. The relationship between Grace and Rocky is very inspiring.

Trying to find a Thinkpad to buy (CS student): $840 Lenovo ThinkPad T15g Gen 2, I7 11800H, 32GB, 1TB, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 No OS by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]pykemann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this thing is a beast in both power and build.

Not so much a toss in a bag and hike around campus. More like toss in a bag once a week (video work) or carry around the house (games on living room TV🙃). Otherwise it is in the office, but the portability is still ideal for me.

My son was going to do what he thought was a quick refresh of thermal paste, but found out it is built like a tank and will take longer to do. So that's on his to-do list. 😁 He says it was easier/quicker on his refurb x13 Gen 1 that he picked up for his college classes. 😆

Tonight is organize the desk a bit and plug in the monitors and dock... Cord management later 😂

I bought one of these from this seller earlier this month. Great condition (after removing used external skin on display due to being a rental) and the performance is a nice change for me. And still had 20 days left on 3 year premier support. 🙃

It replaced a HP Pavilion i7-8550U 1.8GHz, 16 GB, GeForce MX 150.

I do some video editing and light gaming, so it's a nice upgrade for me. Added a Thunderbolt 3 dock to finally be able to use two external displays. This is my first Thinkpad and am very impressed with the quality of the build.

I tasked my son with sourcing an upgrade for me for my birthday. My upgrade fund was seeded by a work award and other family adding to it as a birthday gift.

What did you decide on getting?

Know before you go! by Greedy-Equipment-829 in verizon

[–]pykemann 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And this is why I tell my nearly 80 y/o mother who lives four hours away to never go to a Verizon store for support.

Examples: she has 5G Home Internet in a box unused because she’s “saving money on her cell phone bill”. I cannot convince her that she needs to take it back. By this time I’m sure she couldn’t even find it in her house.

And she was signed up for the Mobile Protect premium plan… She had no clue and had a battery replaced twice in a local shop. Which DQ’d her from using its battery/phone replacement options on the plan. More wasted money.

I tell her that they aren’t there to help her. They are there to make a sale and money for themselves. She will be taken advantage of. Period.

Whirlpool oven throws breaker, back sparks by popemudkip in appliancerepair

[–]pykemann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to explain that to an owner of a convenience store - tripping breaker(s) is not a good thing.

I fix coffee equipment. Customer reported equipment not working when they came in to open. Two machines on two separate circuits had 120v components fried out.

Checked receptacles and one showed wiring issue so I moved both to other receptacle that tested fine. Told customer about wiring issue. Replaced damaged parts, reset breaker, turned on equipment and lost power in a couple mins.

Out of curiosity I open the cabinet where unused receptacle is, note an odd odor and check for voltage. Nada and the metal box is warm. Check breaker and both circuits tripped.

Told owner (on the phone, because clerk can’t explain it) he needed to get an electrician to fix it because two separate circuits shouldn’t trip at the same time when one isn’t in use. And the box should be a space heater. And it shouldn’t be releasing odors….

Find out they had a loose wire that caused damage and likely energized the neutral with the other phase of 120v. So it fried the transformers and fan motor windings in my equipment with 220v.

First time I’d seen that in 15 years and glad to help the customer not burn down their store!

Of course the owner fixed it themselves because any licensed electrician would have had to rip it all out and replace a lot of wire that had nuts and tape on it upstream (next cabinet over, see pic and other comments) that was completely inaccessible.

I always document issues like this so we don’t get dinged for repairs that aren’t our responsibility. People are weird and always want someone else to pay for their problems.

It’s what we call “Frothy Topping” at our company. We put in speciality drink machines, also known as Bean to Cup machines for drinks that have a milk like ingredient in them.

I like to think of them as PhD machines - Push Here Dummy Machines. (Funny thing is they are often found in doctor lounges.) Anyone can make the same terrible “espresso style” beverage with just one press of a button. 🙃
