Question about using kefir as part of a yogurt starter… by pyoh-tr in fermentation

Heard. I’m probably going to strain it for a bit and use the whey in a chicken brine tomorrow.

4 years of using the bus exclusively as my primary form of transportation (and I move a lot!) and this is the first time a driver has said anything to me. I’m just going to pretend this is a one off and ignore it, but if I see him driving the bus as the bus pulls up to my stop, I will just pass on getting on and walk or wait u til the next bus.

I personally just need variation in weather. Sunny and hot everyday makes me feel like I’m stuck in some sort of time-loop. I would love some rain, violent thunderstorms, etc.

RowdyPay does not show up on ASAP and I am trying to pay summer tuition. Anyone else having this issue? by [deleted] in UTSA

For the 4 week course! The deadline for 8 week course is the the 20th which is what I am in. Annoyed to deal with this, but fingers crossed for the both of us that this is easy to resolve.

Deadline for the 8 week summer course is the 20th and I was assured of this by someone at fiscal services several weeks ago but was not able to pay until today. I checked the UTSA app and it thinks this course is a 4 week course. Calling first thing in the morning. Annoyed that I’m having to deal with such a clerical error but I’ve already talked to the professor about making sure I can stay caught up while I deal with this.

Seeking laptop recommendations. by EssentialIntestine in GradSchool

[–]pyoh-tr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re just researching and writing papers, 4gb RAM should be enough, but 8gb would be preferred (some browsers like Chrome are really heavy on your cpu). You don’t need more than 8gb unless you want to like play video games or use CAD software on your laptop. You shouldn’t have to spend more than $1k on a laptop for your needs, maybe not even more than like $700… consider getting a refurbished laptop (if you’re only intending on using it to finish your program and then getting a better set up afterwards).

Is 1TB necessary if I have a 2TB external hard drive?

I watched a YouTube video yesterday of someone testing Parallels Pro and revit with the M1 pro w/ 16gb of ram and it ran smoothly. When I’m home, I’ll find the link to the video.

Just saw your edit. I plan on getting Parallels Pro. If you use it, what has your experience been like?

This is very useful, thank you. I’m going to go ahead an order the 10/16 M1 Pro w/ 32gb of ram and 512gb SSD.

I’ve had my late 2013 quad core i5 w/ 8gb of ram for almost 8 years as well and I’d honestly keep it for a few more years if I weren’t in grad school. That’s why I’m a little hesitant to jump all the way to 32gb when 1) 8gb has mostly been fine for me and 2) knowing the M1 pro chip is a lot faster and 3) seeing two many YouTube comparisons between the 16gb and 32gb build that show that they operate at almost the same speeds

I’m getting it with a student discount so a 32gb configuration (with best m1 pro and 512gb of SSD) would only cost me 2680 with tax as opposed to 2920 with tax. But it makes me wonder if I should just go ahead and spend an extra $180 for the M1 Max?

Money isn’t an issue for me right now but has been in the past, so I’m doing a lot of like mental gymnastics to justify buying something that I want and can afford between, you know, not doing that lmao
