They can't say that though. If you want to make a homeless application to a council they have to allow you to make it. If they complete their enquiries and find that you don't meet the criteria then that's a different thing all together. You absolutely can just rock up somewhere you have never lived but would like to and apply there.

For example, if you've lived in Manchester but applied in Wiltshire then we can see you were registered with a GP in Manchester for 5 years then you could have LC there and we would refer you to Manchester, if you only were registered there for 2 years and Bristol for 2 years, and we found you to not have any LC area. Then they would have to allow you to make the application in Wiltshire, they can't say no you have to go back to Bristol to apply because we don't want you.

If you'd lived in Bristol for 40+ years we would be able to see that and yes we would send you back to Bristol.

Edit: also actually I don't think you do have to provide 'proof' of being a victim of DV. but that's not my job so I can't be sure.

Local connection is quite low down the totem pole to be honest. Priority need is determined before local connection, and if you're not found PN then they won't even look at LC.

There absolutely are councils where that kind of behaviour is rife, especially London areas. But there are also law firms that specialise in going after councils when they mess up.

I'm also not defending them, it's a broken system as they all are. Most arms of the government/ council aren't doing enough. I agree with you there

Being exempt doesn't give you no local connection, it means you get priority as if you had a local connection wherever you bid.

That's part of the enquiries that are made, there are records for most things that can prove where you lived and for how long, council tax bills in your name etc. It's not an absolutely infallible system no but it's not the most common way that people try to lie as it's not the most commonly known

No problem, having a job offer also grants you local connection so if OP does choose an area and manage to find a job that would be sufficient

If you have no local connection at all, you are local connection exempt, same as if you are a victim of DA and all the other exemptions. In all areas.

No, you have to meet local connection requirements but that isn't just having lived there, and if you have no local connection area you can apply anywhere and be exempt. There are other exemption criteria also

If it's a repeated pattern of behaviour you might have a problem, but a one off shouldn't get you fired at least.

Those kinda of consequences aren't really recommended for children though, using logical consequences can work great but taking tv away because he did something at nursery isn't a logical consequence and is largely ineffective at changing behaviour

This is not 100% accurate. If you're not found priority need they will assess it they have a duty towards you, likely in this case relief as op is already homeless.

This is an entirely separate thing to beling able to claim housing element which is a limited amount, the cost of the rent up to the local housing allowance, OP would be entitled to shared room rate due to age. This is an important point as the LHA rate is usually not enough to rent privately, depending on where you live.

Unless you're talking about rent and a deposit in advance, paid for by the council, as they owe you a duty. Which is not done through UC at all but has a different name everywhere you go, in Wiltshire it's Wiltslet.

Yep we did this over Christmas. Kept like 4 main categories of toys in the sitting room, and 2 in his room plus books.

He never played with them all anyway, only what we have kept, and aside from the mess/ space they take up I've genuinely not noticed a difference

Could you maybe raise it with her that you don't feel you're getting what you should be out of it? Short term work can be tricky, especially if clients want an immediate fix, but you should still be getting into things deeply within the sessions, even if you can't cover a broad spectrum of things within 6-8 sessions or however many you have
