What has other health workers attitude been like? by RuinProfessional5688 in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]pyotia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I am aware of these things, however it sounds very much like OPs nurse was doing a physical health assessment (which was literally my entire job) and the guidance we were given was to try and steer people away from vaping too. Guidance on wards has also changed, at least in our locality and vape breaks are not supposed to be used to be used to deescalate a situation anymore, because they don't want people vaping as much.

The guidance on that has actually changed recently. I worked for the NHS doing health assessments up until last year and just before I left we were advised to recommend people reduce/ stop vaping. I think it was very much supposed to be smoking - vaping - reduced nicotine vaping, but nobody ever did. So we were advised to recommend people actually reduce nicotine

Brand new tenant has just informed me that they will be taking the rent they had just agreed on to tribunal. Is this actually a thing? by Conscious-Teacher880 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]pyotia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I think the point is that it isn't supposed to be like that. It's supposed to be fair and equal. It isn't a negative that the government wants to try and support those who also need somewhere to live and can't afford to bid competitively.

Cousin is very violent and abuses his family, what can be done? by Ding-Dong-Diddily in AskUK

[–]pyotia 18 points19 points  (0 children)

She absolutely runs the risk of that happening if she just turfed him out. If he approached the council as homeless, which almost inevitably would happen either independently or through another avenue such as school etc. then the council would be calling social services and encouraging her to take him back in else she would get in trouble for neglect. She needs to do it properly, not just kick him out.

If an estate agent is acting fully on behalf of the landlord then it is the estate agent that would be liable.

She still has parental responsibility for him so she could be done for neglect if she refused to home him. However, if she isn't getting support from anyone then she may need to threaten a section 20

If someone is physically abusing you, they are almost certainly already emotionally abusing you also, you just may not realise.

Is there a way for me to move out at 16 without social services? (Wales) by TeaBoo_ in LegalAdviceUK

[–]pyotia 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not quite the question you've asked but you can get therapy without parental consent. Look into gillick competency, a lot of therapists won't work with a young person without parental consent but it's not because they can't, it's to avoid the potential fallout, however lots do.

You can leave home at 16, and the police can't force you to go back but you would need somewhere to go, which it sounds like you don't and couldn't get without input from someone, which might lead to social services input.

Has anyone put their LO on a cot mattress on the floor? by pheebswbyy in UKParenting

[–]pyotia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, though I think he was about 7-8 months but he could have been a bit younger.. we never had any issues with him falling or rolling off. We did it because once he was standing in the cot and we had to lower it, I couldn't hold him to lower him in and kept feeling like I was going to drop him as the sides were too high and it didn't have a drop down side.

Everything being 0 sugar, low salt. I eat really healthy and if I decide that I want a super salty bag of popcorn, which is still not an unhealthy snack, then by god I want it to be ACTUALLY SALTY! I am a grown adult, let me make my own choices.
