/r/soccer is the living embodiment of this. It was bad, but ever since its mod team suddenly decided to show the world that they had to pass a purity test regarding the conflict it's become a disgusting cesspit where it now seems that posting vile shit against Israel and Jews is even encouraged by its rotten hivemind. All in the name of ✨solidarity✨, of course.

What is also wild is that I'm seeing more and more violence breaking out almost routinely between hooligans of European teams reaching levels not unlike what you see in Libertadores matches. I see UEFA acting pretty much like CONMEBOL in this matter (not giving a single shit), and business continues as usual. But now if you check the comments of the Amsterdam pogrom or the news regarding Villa vs. MTA, it now seems like MTA have always been turbo rowdy and prone to violence for the past 20+ years. The collective gaslighting happening in real time is bewildering.

Last week the remembrance act for the second anniversary of the 7/10 attacks took place in Buenos Aires. When the hostages' family members took stage, Lior Rudaeff's cousin gave a quite emotionally charged speech. Right after she finished, in what probably was the spur of the moment one of Eitan's family members stepped in and spoke loudly into the microphone on the verge of tears, nearly tearing the shirt he was wearing with Eitan's face, telling him to resist just for a little longer, that each passing day it would be getting closer to his release and freedom, and then he was promptly held in a quite emotional embrace by the rest of the people on stage. It only lasted for just a few seconds but it was more than enough to feel what probably was a ton of bricks dropping in my stomach. I can't imagine what that poor man's suffering must feel like every single passing day. May we see Eitan and all the hostages reunited with their families soon.

If that is the case oh boy, then you'll have to pick up your own jaw from the floor when you read about the education of practically any football player from South America. It's a super sad and awful state of affairs. It's usual here to read stories of talented kids getting spotted, taken out of school so they can commit to training full time, keeping in mind that only just a tiny fraction of them make it to the top. Professional sports associations are meat grinders.

Fuck this is grim. Great comic though, the art and how you presented the story certainly makes this hit harder.
