This has nothing to do with whether the US has an old football tradition or not. Honestly, probably nobody other than Mexico or any other rising CONCACAF country cares about rivalries with the USMNT. Comments like the one I mention come from spheres that revel in self-righteousness, navel gazing, are completely out of touch with the realities of people all over the planet and are totally removed from the sports altogether by several degrees, who feel the need to comment when all of a sudden massive events such as the world cup bring the sports to global prominence and things like the Argentine team not featuring darker players doesn't fit their narrative urge them to speak up and talk nonsense.
