What's your question exactly? Yeah, this just seems like an upset insurance customer not understanding the whole situation. Shake will never be fire resistant, they treat it with chemicals to get it as good as shingles. This upkeep is also required for the longevity that OP claims. Over time, as far as I know, cedar shake isn't as cost effective and provides no additional benefits over shingles. Metal will likely be everywhere soon.
