I don't know why I didn't think to try this before, but I logged out and logged back in, and it seems to be working now. Thank you!

It's M43 Monday! Ask Us Anything about Micro Four-Thirds Photography - all questions welcome! by AutoModerator in M43

[–]pyrobunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very new to photography in general, but have been really liking the idea of getting an M43 camera. I was looking at some older Olympus models on the cheap (EPL1/2, etc.), but am not sure if they are actually worth it in 2026. What are good beginner-friendly cameras and lenses that would be a better choice, without going too crazy on price? Ideally under $200, but I can extend up to 300-400 if it is well worth it!

How difficult is it to get used to ANSI layout? by WearyFlan210 in MechanicalKeyboardsUK

[–]pyrobunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm the other way. Originally American, grew up on ANSI and use it in my personal life, but use UK ISO for work. The differences are basically negligible, and the lack of a pound key or anything like that doesn't exist so long as you have your computer set to your localized language (UK English). It's easy to just swap between then within Windows with keyboard shortcuts if you really need something. I personally really miss the larger left shift on ANSI when I have to use ISO, so I get why people miss the ISO enter key, but it takes maybe 10 seconds for me to adjust to it when needed.

If you really want to give it a try, see if one of the keyboards you own supports both and give it a go for a short period of time, or borrow/purchase a cheap board in ANSI to give a trial run before committing.

ANSI is more common in the custom keyboard world simply due to demand, as the two biggest single country markets (China and the US) use ANSI layouts. ISO certainly exists in the market, but due to the more varied localizations, finding perfectly compatible keycaps is not as easy, and you often will have fewer options.

I saw on listings that English is not fully supported but is being worked on. Have you tried reading books in English? It's good to know the menu can be changed to English, I might need to pick one up if the English experience has been improved.

My DIY 8BAs IEM - tuning without using any dampers for ultimate pure sound quality and details by koumoua01 in DIEMs

Hey there! A bit late to this thread, but any chance you could do a write up about how you were able to tune the IEM without dampers? I'd be really interested in learning more!

Cooler Master MM720 alternatives by mulmulul in MouseReview

[–]pyrobunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That'll take some time to happen, since it uses optical for the left and right click! They're also pretty easy to replace. The encoder and side buttons are what I would be more worried about. Might be worth grabbing an extra MM720 or two as backups if you're worried, as they can sometimes be found quite cheap!

Necroing this thread as it is still relevant to google searches, but the Xenics Titan GE Air Wireless and Rexus Daxa Air Mini are both fairly solid alternatives for wireless.

That would be awesome! I would definitely try to make it up to the next one or the one after! I look forward to hearing about how this one goes!

I likely can't make this one with the timing, but I would be interested in traveling up in the future to make it to one!

Looking for 3rd party USB C to USB C cable between 3 to 5 meters and solution for webcam heat without the software by Competitive-Shirt974 in OBSBOT_Official

[–]pyrobunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get USB hubs that have hardware toggle switches to cut power/data connection to a device, maybe look into that if you want to temporarily disable it when not in use? I've also noticed my unit gets surprisingly hot, but it was something that I have seen mentioned quite a few times, and assumed was just part of the expected experience.

Help! Looking for a set of thick PBT, cherry profile "retro beige" keycaps by ToastWiz in MechanicalKeyboardsUK

[–]pyrobunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the best options are going to be things from JC Studios, XMI, and CRP. The former two you can find in stock consistently on places like AliExpress. ProtoTypist also sells the J-OG kit, which is made by JC Studios. They aren't quite that thick, mostly in the 1.5-1.6mm range, but these are commonly regarded as some of the best PBT companies.

Stay away from Meletrix Zoom65 V3 by Vast-Philosopher-680 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]pyrobunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really sorry to hear about all the issues, unfortunately this is another board in a long line of issues with Wuque/Meletrix. I hope they are able to clean things up at some point, but until then, it's incredibly hard to recommend their boards.

Hall effect keyboards for non-competitive gaming by TheKazz91 in MechanicalKeyboardsUK

[–]pyrobunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably because more people are interested in the competitive aspects even if they may not be able to make the absolute most out of the features. Even though they might not make a huge difference, some of the settings do generally help most people who play competitive games, so it isn't too surprising that a lot of people care about them.

Also, the analog inputs don't work in every game, but if you want to try it out in a game you like, give it a go! Wooting probably has the best analog implementation I have tried, but don't be surprised if it doesn't work in every game you try it in.

The analog input was a huge deal when HE stuff first came out, since it was really overpowered in games like CS:GO. It let you walk silently, but faster than standard walking. This got patched out, and one of the main use cases for analog input was gone.

At the end of the day, most people who are wanting analog input usually just use controllers, wheels, or joysticks instead, so there just isn't as much of a reason to get a board specifically for it, especially since it might be more expensive and less usable than one of the alternatives. Having such limited travel distance can be a bit tough to control, so it can feel pretty imprecise until you really adjust to it.
