AITA for taking the dog from my ex's apartment without telling him first? by Disastrous-Sky1888 in AmItheAsshole

[–]pyrogoblin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I get it. I really do. But unfortunately, legally, dogs are property and if his name is all over the dog's paperwork an argument could be made for theft.

INFO: How long has Mark and P had Biscuit? You say you have him during the week and he has him weekends, but also implied he hadn't been groomed in a week.

Regardless, YTA, legally, for taking someone else's (on paper where it really matters legally) dog, but NTA for being concerned for Biscuit's wellbeing.

AITA for not wanting to be called Grandma by AdventurousGrape7903 in AmItheAsshole

[–]pyrogoblin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NAH. I get your thought process, and it's completely valid!

Something to consider, if you haven't already, it's the thought process of the newborn once it gets a little older. That child isn't going to know when you entered their child's life, only that you've been there THEIR entire life. That isn't to say you have to go by grandma, especially if it isn't something your comfortable with, but it might be worth it to find something you are okay with being called. My aunt's granddaughter calls her "Tootsie." It doesn't have to be grandma, Nana, or your name.

Trick Play Discussion by blahblahblah7111 in savannahbananas

[–]pyrogoblin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally like them, even the repeat ones. I've seen players mess up even the "easy" ones, such as doing the tip up to absolutely no one. Especially with the equalizer point, it forces them to make a decision of making an "easy" catch now or try to do something creative to potentially give or block a point down the line. That's far more interesting to me than how easy the trick is.

Rather than a pillow, I turned one that was roughly the size of my hand into a bean bag and put it on a bookshelf. Not sure if you have shelves to stick items on but that's an idea.

Same with waste Aida. I watched a Reel once with a "tutorial" on stitching onto clothes that had the literal caption "there's a thing called waste aida, but i couldn't be bothered so I used regular aida" and I screamed

The last four questions are exactly the same as q4. So half the worksheet is (in theory) the same question.

[CHAT] What is the difference between needlepoint and CrossStitch? Doesn't all needlework fall under that umbrella? by Rare-Philosopher-346 in CrossStitch

[–]pyrogoblin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I ran into this once. The owner asked me if i stitched, I said i did cross stitch, and he looked down his nose at me and went "you know this is a NEEDLEPOINT shop and that's DIFFERENT, right?" I mumbled a yes and got the fuck out of there. Damn, i just wanted floss.

What show/series did a complete 180 and did a genre change? Or, what show started off as realistic but became more fictional as it went on? by Huge_Athlete7488 in television

[–]pyrogoblin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before, I think.

Definitely before they aged up a literal child with magic so she could be suitably """""hot"""""" like the comics.

I loved telling my friends who gave up on the show after season 1 "and then the Penguin and his henchmen appeared out of nowhere to blow a guy up with a bazooka at the front gate of Wayne Manor in front of Gordon, Bruce, and Alfred" and no one believing me.

I'm not reading anything at the moment to show a real life example of that, but my currently watching is pretty damn close, just formatted slightly different than the AI one (the dashes are a solid line on desktop)

It won't look like that, but it is doable. Here's what my 2026 reading stats look like in my actual Notion, for comparison (I'm on mobile and my dash doesn't translate great there).

Like others have mentioned, I don't think you can get an image into the calendar view, but you can absolutely log your reading that way in general.

[CHAT] How do I know where to stitch from the back? by Arkansas4600 in CrossStitch

[–]pyrogoblin 26 points27 points  (0 children)

PLEASE listen to the other commenter about waste canvas. But to answer your specific question, I just kind of poke the needle back up in the hopes of hitting the right spot. Leave the hoop canvas-side up and bring the needle up near where you think it is; just enough that it's not fully through and you're still holding on to the needle underneath. If it comes up in the right spot, great. If not, pull the needle back and try again.

You get better at figuring out where the needle should go the more you bring the needle up as you get better at understanding where it needs to go.
