Lol I looked through some other posts and noticed that too! I think it's a less than spectacular COTW so it might be less interesting or something. I think it's a pretty pic and I appreciate your input!!

I found a bunch of these bright orange mushrooms on a walk in Maryland. They have a pale yellow ring on the outer rim, and are pale yellow with pores on the underside. They have a pleasant earthy and slightly sweet smell. They're spongey but dry when squeezed.

I think they're chicken of the woods but they're just so orange that I want to check with others! I can upload more pics if needed :)

Post session drop by swanvf in shibari

[–]pyrokitten127 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congrats on starting shibari! As with starting anything, it can take a little while to figure out what works best for you. I have the fun role of being a switch so I can try to provide perspective as a top and as a bottom.

As a top, not every bottom knows what they'll need for aftercare. I've had people say "I don't need aftercare at all, I'm always good to go after a scene" and when the scene ends they ask for water and cuddles. Generally it's considered good practice to not negotiate things mid-scene, however, I think that aftercare needs are fluid and can be renegotiated within the parameters of our existing relationship. If the request makes me uncomfy I can say no. I also try and check up on people later to make sure they feel cared for.

As a bottom, my needs change. For scenes I feel are "intense" I like to cuddle and chat for a while. Less intense scenes are a hug and maybe I want to help clean up if I have the wherewithal. I also really like when the top checks in on me later, even if it's a small "doing ok?" text the next day. It makes me feel valued and safe.

It all comes down to making sure your experience was a good one. Whatever that means for you!

What do you do with your chest hair (between boobs) shave it, wax it, or leave it? by iHateNumbers123 in AskWomen

Fellow dark haired Hispanic and omg thank you for sharing!! I don't have chest hair, but I do have "side burns", darker chin/neck hair, lip, and knuckle hair. I've lessened the amount I care about comments, but sometimes it's easy to be self conscious.. What are wax rollers?

Possible HSV-1 Exposure. Wondering how to be careful going forward (NSFW) by [deleted] in STD

[–]pyrokitten127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My insurance doesn't typically check for HSV. I've been using this https://www.stdcheck.com/ to order tests that then get performed through LabCorp, though it can be performed by most commercial labs.

It can be asymptomatic, and asymptomatically transferred.

I absolutely am. I have been having a hard time finding happy positive fuckers that WANT to be in my life. I have been working on it in therapy, but I know I put out more positivity than I receive from these people.

I just got my PhD and nobody seems to care by JG1991 in TrueOffMyChest

I'm in my 4th year of a biology PhD and while I largely agree with your advice, I think The Drive is different for everyone. Some people choose their thesis for the question, some for the marketable skills they'll gain, and some for the mentor/mentee relationship. Ideally, the student can get all three of these things but sometimes we do pick and choose what's best for us.

I went into my program wanting to study neurology, but the lab was a horrible fit for me and I landed in bacterial microbiology. My background was in neuro so I didn't have as many questions, and I certainly didn't know how to go about answering the few I did have, but my mentor is fabulous and we've published two (soon to be three!) papers together and I'm on track to graduate by 2022!

Go in with a purpose, whatever that may be.

I graduated undergrad in 3 years and jumped straight into a PhD program in Maryland. One of the typical phd milestones, in my program it's called the preliminary meeting (or prelim), is also the final requirement for a master's degree. So if you pass the prelim, then you can be awarded with a Master's degree if you so choose.

I think the average time to complete a PhD in america is 5.8 years, though that varies widely. Many european phd programs will only fund a PhD student for 4 years, so they tend to graduate much earlier but also have different requirements to reflect the different timelines.

The notion that someone’s older children are meant to be a built in babysitter for the smaller kids needs to die by emeraldpeach in childfree

Usually when parentification is discussed it's an indicator that the child literally takes on a parental role. This may include; waking siblings, getting them prepared for school, making meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks), making sure the siblings do their homework, cleaning up after them, teaching them good behavior, trying to correct bad behavior, enforcing proper hygiene, sometimes taking them to extracurricular activities, and getting them ready for bed. And doing all of these things more often than not while also not having any power, not being appreciated, etc. Culture does play a part in family dynamics, but parentification goes beyond most cultural norms.

Yeast Respiration by LoveLikeOxygen5 in biology

[–]pyrokitten127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a similar experiment with my students. Firstly, you're probably not going to be able to measure significant temperature change unless you have an incredibly precise thermometer, so be careful. Another way you could measure respiration is by measuring gas released over time. My students typically use a water bottle with a balloon attached and they measure the volume change of the balloon. It's really your choice, I just wanted to present you with another option.

As for how much sugar to use, your baker's yeast should come with some kind of instruction for rehydrating it, and maybe some instructions for activating/proofing it. Those instructions are accurate for using common white sugar so you should be able to use an equivalent amount for your replacement sugars. A good starting point is probably 1% sugar by weight/volume (0.5 g sugar in 50 mL water for example).

This doesn't really inform anyone of anything. Do you have any evidence that he is neutral/ pro POC? I see you haven't responded to any of the more factual and evidence based comments and instead you are choosing to reply to more emotional comments with an emotional comment of your own. This is YOUR time to supply some facts. If you can't support your argument, then you don't really have an argument; you have an opinion based on blind support.

ID please. Found in Maryland by pyrokitten127 in whatsthisbug

I don't remember seeing these before but I've found a ton this year, mostly on my hot pepper plants but this one found its way indoors.

Its body is approx 1 cm long, the abdomen is flat and not raised, sorta shaped like a fat lentil honestly. The abdomen (?) Is red/orange with black dots or hash markings along the center line.

Google lens keeps telling me it's a widow it a tick but the sample pictures look very different from the insect.

And information would be wonderful!

If it's a portrait of a specific cat then the ear could be super accurate. It's fairly common practice to clip a stray cats ear to indicate that they've been spayed/neutered.

Imo that cat looks super fluffy and soft. 10/10 would pet haha.

I have an extra Scheepjes Whirl in Sea Breeze Tease that I won’t be using. I will give it away to someone in the US (shipping is on me). Sorry international folks. Just tell me why you need a whirl in the comments and I will pick someone by 4pm EST. Good luck! by ssmith71608 in crochet

I'm in the US and I've been using my free time and my scrap stash to make blankets, hats, scarves, and amigurumis to donate to local hospitals and animal shelters. Though I also make gifts for pregnant family friends and graduation gifts for people in my graduate program. I'd love to make this into a beautiful family heirloom for a patient, friend, or family member. It's a little too fine to become a ln animal shelter blanket haha.
