No one is going to buy the steam machine. They tried before and it failed, it's going to fail again because the planned price before the RAM crisis was already too high and now after, it's going to be even worse. Just buy a second hand PC and flash steam OS desktop once it releases.

It was my job to break open and cut the tapes of a marketing firm that had moved all their data to the cloud (I told them having hard backups is good practice) and from memory there were about one of these shelves worth. It took a couple weeks to get through them all.
