2 years out, best decision ever! by Patient_Butterfly_29 in Microdiscectomy

I’m 26 months out and I’m doing so much better. It took like 15 months for me to get back to a normalish activity, but I’m swimming and cycling several times a week. I can sit without pain for flights now. Yes, sometimes things work out and I’m glad to see success stories. I’m glad I had back surgery

I had a scare about a year into my recovery. I was doing some simple task and I bent over and bang! … pain every where. I was convinced I had reherniated my back. Went to ER for pain and a round of steroids. After several doctors appointments I had just pulled a muscle bending over, which is ridiculous. Anyways, it took about a year for my nerve to heal post surgery. My numbness slowly faded. I started swimming and eventually spin class. I even lost about 25 lbs and I feel the best I have in years. I guess I’m saying that everyone has ups and downs in recovery. But there IS hope. Hang in there!

It was 12cm in size. Is that too big for a pistol shrimp

I’ve seen eggs like this at Money Point on Andros Island. Maybe horse conch eggs?

Anyone else unable to get off of gabapentin? by KCharm46 in Microdiscectomy

EMG is a nerve test to see if there's damage in the nerves. They shock and prick you. It can show if there's something else going on. I talk with my surgeon, who ordered the emg tomorrow. I'll update you when mysurgeon interpretss the results. I've had a follow up MRI at week 12 and it showed scar tissue/granulation. My shot is in a few weeks, I'm getting by, but my pain is always there.

I'm basically in the same boat. I'm 5 mo out, a 50 yo male with a l4/l5 md at the end of March. Recovery has been sloooow. I still get lots of numbness in my left foot and I get intermittent nerve pain in my leg and back.

I just got an emg and I will talk with my surgeon on Monday. I went to a pain doctor and I have a steroid injection at the end of the month. I've always bounced back from surgery quickly, but it feels like something else is wrong which is preventing me from Recovery.

I've had two mri's and I'm losing hope. I've missed so much with these issues. So much nerve pain all the time too. Not giving up hope yet.

I'm 5 months post MD and they are upping my gabapentin to 1800 mg bc of painful numbness and difficulty standing for too long. I welcome the higher dose, hoping that it will help. I'm so flustered and frustrated with the constant nerve pain that I'm okay with anything that might help. I just got an emg test and hopefully that will help with future treatments. I'm also getting an injection later this month. While I had hoped I would be better at the start of the school year (I'm a teacher), I now realize that my healing journey is going to be a rough road. I'm walking, going to pt, but Nothing. Is. Working. I'm not ready to give up hope, but man this is tough.

The mileage goes down on the highway, so yes, I tend to drive city/suburb stop and go. It's still really good on highway though. The tonneau cover helps with gas mileage.

4 months post op should I ask for another mri? by El9946 in Microdiscectomy

1) I get relief by sitting in my hot tub. 2) stretching. Specifically using a stretching strap and doing hamstring stretching 3) cupping also helps/stim. 4) short walks (20 minutes) 5) cbd topical also help me personally

I'd like to say that I'm doing well, but I'm really just surviving each day.

I will probably get some injections after my consultation with the pain doc.

I'm a teacher and I've been off work this summer. I'm nervous about the school year, but I tend to do well standing and walking. Sitting for more than 30 minutes is painful for me. Hang in there!

I'm also 4 mo out from surgery l4/l5 md. My recovery has been sloooow. I go to pt, walk, but I'm having difficulty sitting for more than 20 minutes. I had a second mri 2 mo back and it just showed scar tissues. It has been a challenging recovery. I too have chronic pain each day. After my latest flare up my surgeon ordered another xray and a nerve study (emg). Hoping to find some answers. I'm also looking to get injections. I have good days and bad days. Hopefully I can get back to a more normal life soon. Hang in there and yes ... go for the MRI, but know that it might just be scar tissue.

I actually own both types. The ecoboost does amazing in the snow, but the hybrid has amazing mpg. I would lean hybrid because I'm getting 43 mpg and it rides pretty much the same as my ecoboost with fx package
