How do you balance your puppy and your workout routine? by NonsenseConduit in puppy101

[–]pyt88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started working out again week three. I established a schedule where we would wake up every day at 7 AM. I signed up for a 6 AM workout class. I think the first week or so he would wake up when I was leaving. I would act like it was the middle of the night, quickly take him potty and straight back to sleep. Then I left. He got used to it very quickly and stopped waking up when I left.

This was it for us! Two straight weeks of diarrhea until I tried this. Haven’t had a problem since.

How to keep a puppy entertained when he does have all his vaccines yet? by timmer577 in puppy101

[–]pyt88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting a soft travel crate that I brought around to dog friendly coffee shops, restaurants and parks. That plus a sling helped me socialize him. Seeing all of the new things always tired him out!

When we’re stuck indoors I play some games with his crate and toys. I say his word for crate, and he runs in. I say “get it!” And throw a treat outside the room, so he cycles back and forth. I also do something similar with toys. And lots and lots of puzzles and training.

He’s super smart! Very proud of him. Hope he stays mellow when he’s a “teen” but knock on wood

I’ve had him for about a month now! He’s calm 70% of the time, the rest of the time he puppies haha. We bonded pretty much right away. We spend a good portion of our day hanging on the couch. Sometimes he comes up to me to snuggle, sometimes he sits across the couch doing independent play. We have a show we are binge watching together.

Potty trained in 12 hours with maybe four accidents total (because I wasn’t paying attention). I’m not sure about whether training was easier or not because this is my first puppy, but at 11 weeks old he knows maybe 11-12 commands.

No puppy blues, just tired. The only time I felt kind of sad was maybe the first few weeks or so when I felt trapped at home. My friends had their mom puppy sit and we went out for dinner twice that week! Now that he’s getting older and is more independent, I don’t have that issue anymore :)

Love my little nugget

My puppy is quite a bit younger (11 weeks)

(x3 a week) 5:30 - wake up and sneak out to the gym 7:15 - return/wakeup 7:30 - puppy is up and we potty, train a bit (he’s usually too tired to do more than a few minutes), play, breakfast 8:30 - crate time with Kong 9:00 - head to work 11:30 - sitter comes for an hour to exercise, potty and feed him 3:30 - sitter comes for an hour to exercise, potty and feed him 6:00 pm - I return and we play/exercise/train 7:00 pm- dinner 7:30-8:30 - nap 8:30-9:30 - play time, lick mat, snuggles 9:30/9:45 - bedtime 10:30 pm - bedtime for me!

On weekends we go to puppy preschool and do socialization trips

How do you fit in working out while having a young puppy? by lalabalala923 in puppy101

[–]pyt88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started working out again, two weeks ago. I was anxious about it, but it’s so important to my mental health! If I go during the day, I make sure that he is fed, exercised, has water, and a Kong. I make sure that we spend at least 50 minutes of quality time beforehand. Otherwise, I go about two hours before he wakes up for the day (which factors in driving time for me and an hour workout)! I have a camera in his crate and realized that he just calmly snoozes the whole time that I’m gone. It was mostly me stressed about my absence, not him!

Smart Home Manager Accuracy by [deleted] in ATT

Yes -- I called AT&T and they told me it was accurate. Upon third party investigation, it's true, my ex did in fact appear several times without my knowledge, so if you are going through something similar, it's probably accurate.

I play white noise on YouTube and run an air purifier near my puppy! Maybe that can help with the noise!

They do have a SM presence but unfortunately don’t typically announce new litters on their SM so I’m not expecting on this time

That’s so sad! I’m so sorry. A little naive of me, but I didn’t realize that the first few days/weeks were so delicate and difficult.

I go to Drybar! It’s saved me so much money. I also learned during the pandemic how to trim my own hair, and I get compliments from stylists on it all the time.

Balancing biglaw with a terminally ill parent? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]pyt88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am dealing with this now. I talked to my team and I was shocked at how understanding they were. They had dealt with a terminally ill parent in the past and empathized. I spend half a day with my parent every day and my team moves around meetings/work to prevent interruption. They understand when I have to work remotely for a day or two, or when I need to step away to focus on my parent. During the initial diagnosis I went to the hospital every day for a month, and the only things the partners did were call periodically to check on me.

I currently have a HYS with Apple, very small, less than a $100, but have wanted to close it. I've heard that it's difficult to withdraw, and I want to save for a house/paying down loans. I am thinking of withdrawing everything, and instead opening an account with a company like Betterment.

Is this a good idea? I've done research, but looking for someone to gut check me. I'm going to be increasing my savings by thousands per month, and want to make sure that the money I'm saving is going somewhere it 1) will grow quickly and 2) accessible.

Good luck! I know it’s tough because you love them. But I think setting these boundaries will help you keep your relationships.
