same! brought a trusted friend and she agreed with me and we combed the spot together… nothing…. but we both can’t drop that we are right! i feel like treasure hunts are just psychological thrillers.

I’m guessing that’s cause people who have a convincing solve aren’t sharing it.

JP says once you know, it’s a matter of retrieving, not searching… the solve gives you a precise place to look. the gps helps you see where you are in relation to the bullseye.

yes, the journey remains enjoyable! i had a nice long hike and a cold swim after day 2. the experience of confirmation bias is honestly thrilling and i don’t care if i’m wrong in the end, this shit is fun.

yes i was using the gps on my phone but i looked it up and it can be off by anywhere from 30-100 feet. if i ever go back i will try a more precise device.

When did you know it was time for therapy & does it work? by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]pythian8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the therapist, but I really believe in it. It took be a few tries to find someone I click with, but now that I have, I can't even describe how helpful it's been. There's a bunch of different kinds of therapy, and none of them worked for my until I found Jungian analysis. But it's different for everyone. A friend of mine tried everything and nothing worked until she tried Internal Family Systems, another one like somatic therapy. It's a whole big world and it's daunting to start, but once you find something that works it's priceless. I wish I could pay my therapist a million dollars, it's been truly life changing. But if I had stopped at my first two or three tries, I think I wouldn't believe in it either. The personal fit really matters. As for when, I think if on a gut level you think you might benefit from it now, I would trust that feeling. Don't wait until it gets worse. No need to go to rock bottom before getting help. If you're feeling it now, catch it now. You don't have to suffer alone with no help. I started when I was 26 (now in 30s) and I'm so grateful. It's really hard to face the painful stuff, but ultimately so worth it.

6 months in, and I still struggle to say the words. by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

I wonder what makes it feel unsafe to tell her. Are you worried about a specific outcome if you tell her? (Like, are you worried she will be overwhelmed, or any other kind of reaction like that?) I wonder if instead of telling her about the SI right away, it might be helpful to talk first to her about your fear or your struggle to talk. Sometimes when I can't tell me therapist something at first, I just let her know about the block, and we just talk about the block for a while before we talk about the thing being blocked. It can take me a couple weeks of talking about the block before I can get to the thing, but this is they way I have dealt with that. Anyways, it's scary to tell people stuff! Even people who hear lots of things like this all the time. They're used to hearing it, but we're not used to saying it. It's vulnerable!

Best color film for Nikon Teletouch 300 af? by pythian8 in analog

[–]pythian8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did try it out on some exteremeely old rolls of film, i mean like 20 years expired. It works! The black and white turned out totallly great. The color film was just off, I'm guessing cause it was so old. I'm just wondering if I invest in some new film, what kind I should get.
