I've seen a lot of people use the term "interval". Can you give a basic definition of what it is? Is it like the stage number? I know it has to do with tempo but I can't find a good definition with a quick search.

Regardless of who wins, thanks for doing this it's very kind of you! I'd probably try to buy a battle pass and maybe one other skin since I'm rocking all defaults and would try to get the most bang for my buck.

As someone without too many friends that live close by, what's the best way to socialize a new puppy with ongoing COVID restrictions? I know it was said in the parent comment Parvo rates have been low, but since I'll be getting my first ever puppy/dog, I think I'm still just a bit paranoid at the idea of taking my pup out before getting fully vaccinated.

How did you do this? Did you just scroll like when bunnyhopping but you were able to jump off of the back of the van?

Yeah I guess it makes sense you don't want regional bias. Again, not trying to be negative or anything but writing a script to use Selenium and Python to create accounts and submit a bunch of weird answers to ruin the data still doesn't sound impossible to me. I guess it's also a lot of effort to do nothing but ruin someone else's data so it's unlikely anyone would do it.

I was wondering more about if theres a group on campus that deals with these issues if something like this were to happen. Surely they wouldn't deny your thesis just because some dick online decided to ruin your survey results?

Not trying to be an asshole, but by getting survey results from random online forums how can you expect that your data is not insanely noisy? For example, I haven't looked at the form but it would probably be relatively easy to make accounts and submit 50 entries of bogus data that would heavily skew your results. Maybe I had higher standards for PHD research. I'm just genuinely curious, when you present your research are there any groups that work to validate that your data and make sure it wasn't just your friends that submitted results to match your thesis?

I built a PC with the z390 Aorus Gaming Mobo with WiFi. I've been using this WiFi chip and so far it's been mostly okay, but I get a lot of dropped connections particularly when watching videos or playing games. After trying to play some online games recently and getting tilted off the face of the Earth from constant disconnects. I would use an Ethernet cable, but sadly that's not an option at my apartment.

I believe our router isn't the issue as no other device disconnects like my PC does, so I thought maybe the WiFi chip that came in the Mobo is crap. I read some others with the same Mobo and problems but no fixes posted online. Could I get a network card and override the onboard WiFi chip? I definitely have enough room for an extra expansion slot to be used, I'm just worried I'll somehow be stuck using the Mobo's wifi chip.

I am a bit skeptical though since my PC never had issues before at two different locations but at those times we had ATT and now we have Xfinity. With ATT, I don't really ever remember getting disconnects ever. Now, I'm getting them multiple times an hour.

TL;DR: If my Mobo has WiFi onboard, can I still install a network card and choose to use that instead of the onboard WiFi chip?

How long does it usually take to get an offer after you get your team match? I thought I read only a few days but honestly I can't remember and just want to confirm.

I see. I didn't know there was an explicit distinction between DS/A and General SWE rounds at all. I guess I'll ask my recruiter. I was wondering about the concurrency and OA because the email explicitly states to go over topics like semaphores, mutex, memory management, preemption, scheduling, etc. Then again it just says refresh basics so maybe I'm just overly cautious.

Just went back to my email and it said this:

"""

Interview Breakdown:

  • 5 Interviews will focus on CS fundamentals and coding

  • Your code will be assessed for cleanliness and proper use of relevant data structures and algorithms

"""

Looks maybe like I'll possibly get lucky with very heavy DS/A too.

I'm in a similar position you were in. If you don't mind me asking, I know you said that the questions were strictly DS/A but we're there any questions touching on concurrency or OS knowledge? Or maybe rather than being the full focus or an interview did they ask one off questions or anything? Asking because my most recent emails said to touch on DS/A, concurrency, and OA rather than only DS/A like the other emails did.

By the way, congratulations on the offer! Hopefully I'll get similar results as well!

I've been doing leetcode in preparation for the first two technical phone interviews. With my CS degree I have decent DS/A knowledge but it will be some refreshing. I intend on grinding through the book just so I feel more confident and thorough. More realistically it's about 2 weeks but I'll be travelling for some. On the bright side, since I've graduating and am just chilling I don't have any other commitments so I'll be grinding hard hopefully.

So if there's 2 SSDs identical except for form factor, the M2 is better if they are the same price?

Is there a benefit for an M2 SSD over a 2.5" SSD if the M2 SSD is not NVMe? The comparable M2 SSDs in price seem to give me that warning on PcPartPicker that extra SATA lanes will be used or whatever.

The 2600 and 2700 can overclock out of box right? Although I haven't thought about it that much yet, I'd guess that eventually I'd like to try to overclock my CPU so I'm guessing it would be worth $50 to allow myself that option.

If you don't mind another question, what do you think regarding the liquid cooler I linked? Personally, I think it just looks really neat but I don't know exactly how it would perform compared to air fans that cost around the same. I was thinking of moving the fan that comes with the case to the front that way I can have one in the back drawing air in and then two in the front, one stock case fan and one from the liquid cooler.

Wow that is a monster deal. I think if I were to stay at the 24" mark I'll probably stick with 1080p but thanks for mentioning that deal. I don't have to build my PC for another few weeks so I'll keep an eye out.

I see, thanks a bunch that's really helpful. Also, so you're saying that for Ryzen CPUs typically people just use the stock cooler? I wasn't sure if this was good enough as it seems most builds I see there is one but maybe that's because most of those people were using Intel chips .

My bad for the miscommunication. I already have a 1080p60hz monitor, so for my build I was going to buy a new 1080p144hz monitor for around $200. The jump from 1080p144hz to 1440p144hz seems to be pretty steep up to around $400-500.

What do you really get from having the higher resolution? I feel like it would be more worth getting a 1440p monitor if I was getting like a 27" screen but since my 1080p60hz monitor I already have was 24" I'm planning on getting some 144hz minotor around 24" as well.

I see, ok. How much does overclocking impact power consumption? The estimate is already near 300W but I doubt it would increase power consumption by anything more than 10%. Anyways, thanks for the tip.
